Great Playing! Not too much and not too little!!!
« on: July 25, 2008, 07:16:45 PM »
This the kind of bass playing I love.  Not too much but making your presence known.  Maybe a lick every now and then.  This is real nice.

GO HARD!

Sho you right... He incorporated all the following Bass Faces:

1.) The prominent, "Tuck the lips"
2.) "Bite the bottom lip"
3.) "I just snuck one off"
4.) "What Stanks", yes I know I didn't say Stink... I said Stank.
5.) "I'm trying not to Puke"

And my personal favorite

6.) "What you mean, I owe you 5 dollars?"

Now that cat got skillz. That was one of the best Bass performances I have seen on U Tube. Right up there with the DW Wright clip. What is this cats name and is he well known?

...He played some great stuff...but I thought he played waaaaay tooooo much!.....Given what the drummer and keys were doing that is....

...If I were producing that sequence I would suggest that he play about 1/2 of what he was playing and save the riffs for key moments so you dont hear everything the guy knows in the first 3 minutes of the song.....

The song lent itself to what that young brotha was playing. I thought  he did a great job at filling up the song. Now if he was in the studio, then maybe you would be a little more conservative. But, playing live you should have somewhat of a different approach, as long as it does not disturb the song.  I thought he did an excellent job.

I agree...For a live performance it was top notch in my opinion. Plus, he wasn't playing with multiple keyboards or lead guitars, so he sort of had to put in extra fills to liven things up a bit. i enjoyed it

That's was pretty good.  Nice, tasteful fills.  The smile at the end was classic.

His playing was just right for that song. It was definitely not too much in my opinion. He filled in gaps just like any other player would hav done. The drummer had some fills, its just that we were concentrating on the bass, therefore we may have missed some of his fills. Great playing none the less.
Keep God first and he'll do the rest!!!

He is talented with great chops. Now he just needs to learn when to use them. Not haten at all , I respect the young brothas comin up for what they can do. But when I learned over 35 years ago and it still holds true today, sometimes Less is Better.

I thought that he kept a solid groove going and, even though he was "busy", he wasn't over-bearing.  It didn't really seem like a "look what I can do" performance.  I really enjoyed it.

how did u miss the "why did my girl leave me right before this set" face (complete with R&B singer head shake action)?
For my God... let "Golden Axe" prevail.
