I requested some sub-forums for our little place here. If it's not something that happens I'll make stickies of the new forums....we'll just all have to work together to make sure everything goes where it is supposed to. here is what i requested:
Chords/tabs
Gear
Lessons/Instructional
Are they pretty good about handing out sub-forums...or is it an uphill fight?
Perhaps some insight into how the Guitar TAB/Chords Forum disappeared originally might answer the question.
I'd love to see a Gospel DVD Review forum or stickie that is GUITAR SPECIFIC. I mean reviews from a pure gospel guitarist point of view.
Gospel artists are BIG on putting out DVDs...but you rarely see enough of the musicians (especially the guitarist)
For example, this week I received two Gospel DVDs...
1. Norman Hutchins: "Where I Long to Be" (2006) - Typically, Hutchins music has lots of interesting guitar in his music, but this DVD was only Hutchins and a choir working live to a backing track. Nuff said. I hate it.
2. Joe Pace: "Mighty Long Way" (2006) - Joe Pace is WORKIN' a HUGE choir and group of musicians (including brass & strings). Quick glimses of Rick "Ripp" Watford playing a Carvin Strat-style guitar and tearing it up. The guitar is mixed a bit better on this DVD than on the CD recording (not by much, but it's noticable). Great stuff to be found here with an extremely polished product. Buy it because you're a Joe Pace or a Ripp Watford fan because you'll be looking hard to see the guitar licks with the guitar-unfriendly camera angles and quick camera pans. Special guest appearance by Jonathan DuBose Jr. of a couple of numbers is, of course, wonderful.
I'd love to see more reviews collected that point out guitarcentric Gospel DVD opinions.
