Intro-Hello
« on: July 29, 2008, 10:17:49 AM »
Hello All-

I was looking for Jonathon Butler music and I found this site. God is goood!
It's just what I need.

Just a little bout me.

I'm 51 and originally from Detroit but I live in Vegas for now. I've been playing fretted and fretless bass for 20 years. I teach High School for drug addicts and felons. God saved me from drugs and self destruction.

I make my own basses so I don't own any "brand name" instruments.  :D
I play at Deep Roots Christian Church. I don't have musical boundaries; I have musical preferences. It's all good unless it praises evil. I'm a Irael Houghton and New Breed fan-big time.

I'm always willing to learn and give. I don't hate.

God Bless
bks

Greetings brother, and welcome to the site. It's amazing the things we can be led to " find " by the Spirit of God, isn't it? Anyway it sounds like you are about a great work for the Lord, so keep on keepin' on! Wow! you make your own basses, awesome! I have only been learning since Jan. and am 58 yrs old, I wasted a lot of good years doing nothing musically, but praise the Lord anyhow! Watch this; would you make me a bass, please, please, pretty please? Just kidding, hey God bless you again and welcome to the site.

Boss. Thank You for the Welcome. And for lifting me up. Us "old heads" always need it. Practice them scales brother! I'll pray that God makes an easy path for your learning.

You never know what God has in store... maybe one day I will make you a bass to use for God's Glory.

Welcome aboard!  I'm a native Detroiter too, living in Austin, TX for about 6 years now.  How long have you been away from home?

It's not bad at all!  Hated it at first because it wasn't home, but I've settled in nicely and don't plan on going anywhere else unless the Lord says otherwise.

Bassthumpa don't front.... You weren't born in Texas, but got here as fast as you could... LOL!

As a Native of ATX (Austin, Texas) bassksun... This is a great place to live.  If you can get past the Central Texas weather, changes.

4-Thank You for the Welcome

ATX- :D

Extremes?? Try Detroit. :(  or Vegas, which is better than Detroit IMHO. It's 107 in the backyard and heading up.

No not necessarily extremes... its 103 here... feels like the sun is above your head.  Not so much during the summer time, but during other seasons, the shift in temperatures, and dry and wet times is crazy.   It can be down near freezing in the morning, and bye mid-day its up in the 60's...  Drives me crazy getting dressed some mornings.  LOL!  It won't rain, and we go through a drought, then it won't stop raining for a month...

There is a saying, "If you don't like the Central Texas weather, stick around a moment, it will change."

Welcome BassKsun,

I'm sorta the opposite of you and Bassthumpa.  Not a native of Detroit, but I've lived here for 13 years now.  I'm also a big-time Israel & TNB fan.  Lookin' forward to seeing pics and videos!

Peace,

James

I feel ya on the wind chill, cold thing Jeremyr, When it gets down in the 30's... I don't like it.  I can't even imagine -30. So needless to say, I will not be living in Chicago, Detroit or anywhere near there unless, the Lord plants me there.

I honestly would rather not have either...

Our heat is quite different from Nevada heat, and Florida Swamp Heat...  It's just very uncomfortable to me.  Not complaining though, it only gets really bad around end of july through august.  I really wouldn't want to live many other places in the U.S.

The thing about Central Texas weather.  Is when it changes abruptly.... it's not all that uncommon for a 40 degree shift to happen within an hour or two during certain seasons... that's what gets me.

Nontheless...

What makes you look at Austin, as your next destination BassKsun?
