Build On These
« on: August 13, 2008, 05:10:18 PM »
I got these two chords playing in my head, but can't seem to figure where to take them. Any suggestions on what I can add to these for a nice progression.

C G C/ G Bb D Eb
Ab Eb Ab/ G Bb C Eb

C G C/ G Bb D Eb
Ab Eb Ab/ G Bb C Eb

I too  very simle approach:

C G C/ G Bb D
Ab Eb Ab/ G Bb C
Eb G Eb/ F G Bb
G D G/ D F Bb

Key is in Eb major.

C G C/ G Bb D Eb
Ab Eb Ab/ G Bb C Eb

F C Eb/ G Ab C Eb
G D F/ F Bb D
B/ F Ab B D

back to the beginning

You can replace that G D F/ F Bb D chord with a Bb F/ G Ab C Eb

You could do a 2-5-1 to the C min chord with a walk down to the D in the LH:

D / A C Eb G

G F/ Ab B D F

Just some thoughts off the top of my head.  :-\

This is my first time doing this, so they may suck.  :P :D

But here's what I'm hearing. Each chord is held for 4 beats, with the exception of the last two. The single notes in between serve as filler/passing licks.

C-G-C / G-Bb-C-Eb  (Eb is optional)
/ G, Bb
Ab-Eb-Ab / Eb-Ab-C
/ Ab, G
F-C-F / F-Ab-C
/ E, F
G-D-G / G-Bb-D   (2 beats)
Ab-Eb-Ab / Ab-C-F   (2 beats)
/ Eb, D
C-G-C / G-Bb-C

Or, You can change those last three chords to;

G-D-G / G-Bb-D   (2 beats)
Ab-Eb-Ab / Eb-Ab-C   (2 beats)
/ E
C-G-C / G-Bb-C

Just my 2 cents. Has a very 'dark' tone. Anyways, hope it helps.

There must be a mighty move in the Spirit. Sjon is posting more and more chords.

My pastor did say this was the month of new beginnings.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll try these this evening when I get home.

I've seen someone post something like this before and this seems to be good way to help learn/build progression. Maybe we could do this again, I got alot of stuff in my head and I'm sure others do too.

Anyway just a thought. Thanks again.

Yeah i noticed that when i got actively involved in trying out and suggesting progressions on LGM, i started getting better and better. I would go through inversions and stuff.

CSed, thank you SO much for that 2-5 cycle of fourths progression.

I did something like this, unfortunately it doesn't loop:

C-G-C/G-Bb-^D-Eb   ^=trill
Ab-Eb-Ab/G-Bb-C-Eb
G-D-G/F-A-B-D
Ab-Eb-Bb/A-D-Eb-G
Bb-D-Ab/F-Ab-^C-D  x2
B-Eb-A/Gb-Bb-Db
Bb-D-F-Ab/Eb-Ab-Db
B-Gb-Db/Eb-Gb-Ab-Bb-Db

didn't want to take it out too much..
