BASS RIFF...RUN...I THINK***

WAS PLAYING AROUND ON THA BASS PLAYED SOME NOTES THAT I THINK SOUNDS GOOD TOGETHER.. I AM OPEN FOR UR THOUGHTS... THANK YOU...

Ugh, all I can hear is the preacher, cant hear what your playing at all sorry  :-[

good start doc. Here's a few pointers.

What I would recommend is that you work on your phrasing.  The notes sound to "planned out" if you get what I'm saying.  You gotta put some spirit behind those notes. 

Do this.   Listen to one of the mothers of the church as you hear them back up the preacher.  Then hum those notes to yourself exactly how you hear them singing them.  Now translate that to the bass so that the bass sounds exactly like that line.

J, you hit the nail on the head. To add to this, listen to the preacher. Some will do runs that you can piggy back off of. Also, play in spots. By this, fill in gaps and don't play over the message. It does sound planned and I understand that you're not in a service setting, but what you practice is what you'll perform. Here's a video of an organist backing a preacher. Listen to how he's filling in the gap when the preacher is breathing.
