I don't understand. Do you mean

1) Piano patches- Brite Grand
2) Electric Piano patches- Contempo
3) For Strings patches- Background
4) For Synth patches- 1984

Is that right? Thanks.

In the end man get the board that fits your intended use. As a music production tool, i think the Fantom is definitely more user-friendly than the motif. The Motif has a steep learning curve, especially for folks who are not used to Yamaha boards. I love the ES8 we have in church, but for things like music production, sequencing and all that (assuming i did that kind of stuff) i would go for the Fantom.

For pure playing of patches and voices, i would go for the Motif, most def! The Motif has the best (IMO) acoustic sounds. There is one patch i LOVE... Mega 12 Strings. The sound on that thing is HUGE...layer that with Brite Grand patch and you will rock the church.

The Fantom (IMO) has better brass sounds and synth pads than the Motif.

In short, for ease of use, get the Fantom. For acoustic patches (if your church does not/ cannot afford a grand piano and other acoustic instruments) get the Motif.

My fave layer is Brite Grand, Mega 12 Strings, and Hard Vintage or Hard CP80. Awesome layer IMO. Put in a little brass and you are good to go for praise songs.

It's called BackGround in the strings section. Should be there.
