Gospel "Bass" Chord Progressions
« on: August 27, 2008, 02:46:44 PM »
Praise The Lord Group!

I am new to the forum and want to thank the Lord for this resource.

I’ve been playing Gospel bass for about 3 years now making the transition from basic R&B and reggae. My request is for an audio/visual source (preferably DVD) for me to learn the chord progressions and technique used in Gospel music.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Anthony

I don't think you are going to find a DVD to suit your needs (If you do, let us know what it is).  Your best bet is to search youtube for Torch7, Jeremyr and do a search, on this board for Uriah.

Some typical progressions are: 1-4-5,   2-5-1,   7-3-6-2-5-1  or some variation of those.

I truly thank you for all the help.

After I posted this I searched the site and found numerous progressions to use, don't really need a DVD. I also found a few other helpful tips.

Once again praise the Lord!

Thank you,

Anthony

I'm anxiously waiting and I'll definitely be praying for your endeavors.  I wish I had access to some of this information when I was starting out. I would've been alot further in my playing if I did.

I also wanted to commend you and Sean on your discussion about intros and building up a song. So many times you see guys who play like they are in a shed session that the subtle nuances of musicianship get lost.  Keep up the good work.

Nope, I am the player coach, that offers others, access to my player coach.

Gonna always be a player!  :)

never was a fan of the player coach. they seem to conveniently get more minutes in the game than they otherwise should be getting. and their mistakes are neeeever the reason for losing the lead or losing the game.

sorry...old church basketball league memories. lol
