Unfortunately comparisons are a thing no songwriter can control. People just have to do that in Gospel mostly. I think that is the only way people validate other artist or new people God raises. They have to sound like somebody else. So what do you do....?
Will You be Ready a Choir song? Wow that is crazy I don't see it happening but who knows. Choir.... really. I wrote that song cause God was saying nobody is talking about my return anymore. Preachers are all about prosperity but holiness is still right. he also said youhave to communicate it in a way that these young men and women will hear and they don't listen to the guy on the corner yelling at them " Get your life together....hail, brimstone and fire etc..."
Somebody will try it. Or at least an ensemble.
I wrote a song called "Get Right With God" about 11 years ago that talked about the same thing. It was inspired by the deaths of Tupac and Biggie and a couple of other people I knew that met untimely deaths. I heard so many folks talking about were they right with God. It basically says that you'd better get right before it's too late. I recorded a demo of it and still have the masters, but I have yet to convert it mp3 format. It still has a life so I will eventually do something with it. One of Bobby Jones' musicians wanted it, but I held off because it was supposed to go on another compilation project but that fell through. I may see if he's still interested. It always gets a good response.
I'm also working on another song on the same subject, but I'm still in the arranging process.
You're gonna do well no matter which one you go with. Rather you blow up or not, you've written some great songs and somebody is gonna take notice and somebody somewhere will be touched by the messages.
As far as the comparisons go, they do that to everybody. If/when you become a huge gospel star, then someone will compare the next cat to you. In a way I feel that some folks just refuse to give someone props their own merit. It just has to be because of someone else.
