What is a good amp for a Avatar 212? I've looked at a carvin b1500 and also thought about a Kustom 1200HD. any other input on these amps or other amps would be greatly appreciated

I've had the Carvin BX1200 for about 4-5 months now....it's a great, versatile amp. Plus, it's only $599, ordered direct from Carvin!!
I use a Dr. Bass 2x12 cab (2460D) and it sounds awesome!!!
(Carvin (LB75 + SB5000)) x (Carvin BX1200+ Dr. Bass 2460D) = DaFunk

I haven't tried the Avatar 212 cab yet, but bet it would sound good with a Markbass LMII or Shuttle; depending.
E__y has some Best Offer dealers doing Shuttles for around $550.  You can also find both used, or maybe a GK head used.

Is it a 4 ohm or 8 ohm cab and are you gonna want to go with another cab for some reason?

Is this a good amp?

I haven't played one of these, but it's pretty much the standard for upright bass players.  Might want to check reviews for electric bass - unless you're using it for upright, then it's supposedly the one.  At 100w, it basically is used to make an upright sound like it's louder.  Ron Carter, Charlie Haden, etc and etc use these.

If you're looking for bedroom type volumes for electric, I'd go with a more afordable combo.  If you want to play with some other instruments, I'd go for some more watts and maybe go separate amp/cab.  Maybe a 112 (8 ohm Avatar) and an amp around 300-500 watts.  You'd be good to go.

Play some stuff in the stores and ask folks what they use to get a tone that you like, then look for a good deal on used gear.  That's what I do.

EXACTLY,I also just purchased this amp and I'm using it with my Bergatino 2x12 cabinet ( btw the Bergatino cabinets are the best cabinets out there IMO and I've just about had ALL of them !) and the tone is just "off the charts....... I've not had a tone like this in years !
