Use this opportunity as a time for growth. You say they want you to play like the CD? Then, take the material home and shed with it until you understand what it is that they are asking you to do.
As a drummer, you must be versed in many styles/genres , not just urban genres. Christian rock is not like Gospel/R&B/Hip-Hop. There's a method to the music. Rock fills are more open (BIG). Where as Gospel/R&B fills tend to be more rudimental or choppy. The feels are different. You can't approach Rock like you do R&B. You need to be able to adapt to what the situation calls for.
I've had the opportunity to play for a community church not too long ago, and when we did rock, I played like a rock drummer. When we did gospel, I played like a gospel drummer. I've played on country showcases where I was told to play exactly like the CD, rock demos, and jazz performances and none of them are the same as far as feel. Let the music use you, and you not use the music. It's not about you, it about the music.
As far as money, don't let that be the reason for you not learning and growing. The money will come as you continue to learn and hone your craft. Follow and be open for instruction and you'll be just fine.
