I will say that I'm probably gonna go to Barnes and Noble tomorrow morning and buy the NY Times, Chicago Tribune, Tampa Tribune, USA Today, Washington Post, and my local paper and keep those for keepsakes. I also have my pictures from Thursday's Obama rally in my hometown.

On a Side note: Thank You LGM for being mature saints.

Yes we disagree on who is best for the job but I can tell you that for folks to say they are christian and to see some of the stuff that is being said in other rooms like crosswalk and newsweek's blog it is so sad but we have done pretty good. I can see why the mods played it so close to the line. If you are a seeker and you read some of the stuff on these other christian sites, God would be a hard sell after that.


It has opened my eyes as to why Sunday morning is the most segregated day of the week. It is really sad. I mean as AA people we have had to take a lot of blows and still be required to maintain a sense of civilness(is that a word) ..... Now it seems like now for once they have to accept leader whois not like them, they just lash out like children. It's embarassing.

But yeah, you're right.  I had so many emotions this morning.  I felt the hopes of  a whole people resting on the shoulder of one man.  I felt trepidation that the ill will that some harbor just beneath the service will suddenly come to a head.  I'm proud of him, regardless of my position on any of the issues, I'm proud of Barack. 

That's what I wanted to say in an earlier thread.  All Black folks should vote their choice, but regardless of their choice, they should be proud of Barack Obama.

Ness I agree I feel this way about any person of color who raises above the naysayer.

Now I do also believe that on GP alone EVERY person who is AA should have voted for Obama. Not becuase he is democrat or Republican but because he, if elected, will change the world for our children and even some of us, too me is bigger than abortion, gay rights, Bin Laden whatever. It is the one time I think I can honestly say yes just because he is black is enough, it is everything. Some things he will be able to do. Some things he said he won't. But that is the case with EVERY President since George Washington.

Now that you mention it, at first I was going to write about it in my diary, print out some articles for my future kids/nieces and nefews, BUT now that I know how to make DVDs with Windows Movie Maker that's exactly what I'm going to do!  I'm going to find information for both sides (even some from independants...maybe...they're somewhat crazy....lol) and make a non-biased collection of videos for my future young ones and family to enjoy!  ^_^  The only thing missing is a video camera to record my present family's reaction to who won.  Besides kids always wanna know what mommy and 'em looked like when they were younger!

Since, for the first time, I couldn't take my daughter to the poll with me, I dragged my 8- and 10-year old godsons.  When we left, I made the 8-year-old write an entry in his journal about his experience.  I plan to keep that.

Mostly, my goal for 2009 is to purchase every well-written book about this election season (including anything written about the Dem primary).  I would like to collect at least 1 or 2 books every month.  Also, as Loopy said, I too plan to purchase the major newspapers tomorrow. I have a thing for newspapers anyway, so this is one I just have to add to my collection.

My mom still has the papers from when MLK, Jr and JFK were shot.  I guess we're just sentimental like that... or corny... LOL!
