Not a 'domination' - a Denomination. Pentecostal, with Holiness roots, like the Assemblies of God and Foursquare churches, and trinitarian, unlike Apostolic, UPC and other Oneness Pentecostal denominations...

That's something I'm gonna have to work on....

Sometimes my fingers type something totally different than what I'm thinking, lol.

So it is something like Pentecostal??? I'm just asking because the way people talk about it even around here, it seems to be a more spirited type of worship. I know more people are becoming COGIC. I am curious about it.

Yes, it gets more 'crazy' than most mainline Protestant churches. They are headquartered in Memphis, I believe.

A good one to visit in Los Angeles is the West Angeles COGIC, a megachurch pastored by the head of the denomination.

Yep yep COGIC, Assembly of God, Apostolic, Oneness were all one organization until people started splittin off due to racial and doctrinal issues. COGIC's take a lot pride in their music and worship!! COGIC music is the best music.

I just want to clarify, if I may, the Church of God in Christ is not a denomination; it is an organization. It belongs to the Pentecostal denomination.

A denomination (e.g. Baptist, Apostolic, Lutheran, Methodist) describes the way a body of believers worship, and can usually tell you what they believe.  An organization (e.g. COOLJC, COGIC, FGBC, UCC, UPC) is a group of like-minded churches within a denomination that come together to fellowship and submit to one leadership body.

Exactly, LaRue. Basically COGIC is ONE church in many locations.

This reminds me. Convocation will be in session on election night! I'll bet there will be some shouting in the house if Obama wins!  :D

Although I am not COGIC, I just recently found out that Mother Inez Millhouse, the Int'l President of the Christian Women's Council in the COGIC organization, is my neighbor.  I knew that she was in ministry, but didn't know that she was doing it like that.  Of course, she will be in the house as well. Small world isn't it?
