Anyone Play Synth Bass?

I currently have a Roland Juno D that I mess around with for playing some synth bass parts here and there but I'm still a novice.  Anyone else play synth that could recommend a good short scale synth?

For what it's worth, I've heard good things about the Alesis Micron (and Ion) and Korg's MicroKorg although I'm not really fond of the idea of having mini keys.

I did it for awhile with a Roland D-50 ( that I still have ) when I played in  top 40 bands back in the day.
