I was at my son's AAU basketball practice. My wife called me told me that Obama had 284 electoral. I couldn't really get buck because of course Idaho is a red state. But me and one of the other coaches did the "power fist" at each other from across the court.
When I got home, I got Buck. then I sat and gained a new level of respect for Mccain as I listened to his concession speech. Then I got buck again as Obama delivered his sermon..... I mean acceptance speech.

multitasking.
Switching channels for coverage trying to catch people crying, constantly updating my facebook status, posting on LGM, and listening to "bombs bursting in air"

I think I'll be more excited/proud/etc, once he's in office and passing legislation that, truly, helps the American people.
Very true - Remember the struggles that other Chief Executives have had in enacting reforms...

I had friends over for dinner and was taking the 2nd roast out of the oven...they were still undecided, even though Obama was in the lead...ONE COMMERCIAL BREAK and it pops up on channel 5 ... a big picture of him with 44th President of the United States under it.
The excitement was too much. I had friends in town for the convention and could not cry in front of company so I sucked up...then a friend who's a recording artist (can't call his name) began to BALL and lift his hands thanking GOD for coming through...one tear fell.
Dinner was served. My grandmother called.
She was ecstatic. Then, she did it. She said (and I quote), "son..I never thought I would live to see this in my lifetime" AND I BROKE DOWN COMPLETELY (so did all the other dudes in the house, we expected the FEMALES to)! LOL!
I calmed down and McCain gave his speech...MORE TEARS!
Then Obama gave his speech...NO TEARS, just Godly proud!
THEN....
They messed up and showed Jessie Jackson crying...WHY DID THEY DO THAT!!!!!!!???? I was tore up again!!!
What really messed me up was that in the clip of Jackson crying, you could see a bit of the sky in the shot. I imagined MLK, Rosa Parks, and so many others huddled up, peeping through the clouds whispering "we told y'all...we told y'all" AND I WENT PLUM IN!
BTW...men, if you make noise when you cry...uh...that's just wrong!
Respectfully, Wrong Jr.

The Organization of Manlaws excuses you. It's ok due to the historical significance. Now after Jan. 21, any male boohooing will be subject to review.

I was on the phone with my friend as we watched it. We discussed the impact and the significance of the moment. I still don't think I have fully grasped it. On Inauguration Day, it'll probably sink in for me.

I just kept looking at the tv. It was one of those feelings where I was seeing it on tv but it just wasn't registering. Then I realized "we got a black president". I just cried (a little)... Then when he gave his speech..I cried some more because he was so genuine..
