Hammond M-111?
« on: December 01, 2008, 11:48:48 PM »
Has anyone heard of it?  If so, what can you tell me about it?  I'm thinking of buying a cheap one for my 8-year-old daughter to learn on at home.  Thanks in advance for your comments.  :)

Its straight. Go for it. Without a leslie, it is worth like $200-300. You can put a leslie on it if you want and it will sound almost like a B3.

You can google it for more info

Got this from organforum.com...

"The M-100 series succeeded the M-3.  It has all the features of the M's plus
reverb and some presets.  It is the last tube spinet model Hammond made.  It
was replaced by the T-100 series which IMHO is the best spinet organ ever
made  (until they screwed up the vibrato.)

BTW the second and third digit of the model number denotes the furniture
style and finish;  second digit (1)=Traditional; third digit (1)=Mahogany.

Few spinet organs have any value today regardless of manufacturer or
features.  However, there are still a few out there (like me) who still
appreciate that many spinets can be fun to play if you don't mind doing
things yourself.  (There are no automatic play features on the M-100!) The
Hammond spinets (which were just scaled down versions of the consoles)
usually produced a fuller, more pleasing sound and were more reliable than
most of the competitors of the day.  Also they cannot go out of tune."

If it's in good playable condition and doesn't need too much work, it's a good starter for your kids...

I have a owners manual from a M100, so I took a few pics. As you can see, it is missing the 16' and 5' 1/3 foot drawbars on the lower manual and it has an extra black one.
