What I did was learn the progression first....I learned beat 1 of each measure, one section at a time, watered down. When I got comfortable with the progression, I added in the walking following the progression I learned. Once I was comfortable with walking the progression, thats when I started adding in some "extra" stuff. Just the flourishments (interval jumps, hammer-ons, slides, etc.) I just want to stress that with everything, start slowly and play through it until you're comfortable and gradually increase the speed.

I recommend just listening to it a while and trying to sing/hum the progression. I've found that it really helps develop your ear.

Hope this helps!! Be blessed!!
