This is quite revealing.

Exactly what I was thinking.

I'll take teaching over preaching any day of the week.

Give me some good, solid, hermeneutically sound teaching and I'm happy.

You don't HAVE to sound like you're having an asthma attack to get a message across...

Cosign.

I still think it comes down to preference, though, and I think that's okay.

I don't think anyone should dismiss a preacher just because of his/her skin color, but I don't think there's anything wrong with preferring a more spirited preaching style or a more lecturing style, or anything anywhere between.

Like on Prayer Call, one of the substitutes when Pastor Jackson can't do it is Min. Shaunta. She's very well liked among the callers. She doesn't raise her voice, she doesn't talk fast or use flowery, deep catch phrases or anything like that. In fact, she speaks very slowly, often pausing at length, and it sounds very conversational. Her style is like the total opposite of Pastor Jackson or Pastor Ryan (another substitute). But one LGMer told me to let him/her know when Pastor J is back because s/he can't take Min. Shaunta. LOL! This person prefers the spirited, charged-up, energetic prayer style.

Both of them reach heaven with their prayers, so it really comes down to preference.  To me, there's nothing wrong with that.

So at the end of the day if it boils down to preference then it really doesn't matter then how the word comes as long as it comes? Also that means we should respect preference, look at the big picture and just enjoy Jesus.

Right or wrong?

Also I would argue that probably 85-90% of the issues pertaining to church are about preference.

Is that percentage too high, too low, just right or it really doesn't matter?

Neither. It's a matter of opinion.

Dude. Are you seriously asking that question?

I'm starting back up my campaign to have Daryl charge a per-question fee.  I bet that'll slow you down a bit.

 :D (but half-serious)

BTW, speaking of style, there is a discussion on Crosswalk.com (you know, the forum we love to hate) about screamin' and hollerin' preachers.  Not quite the same thing, but some of the comments there may offer addional insights with regards to stylistic preferences.  It's also good venue to engage a CCM vs. Gospel debate discussion.  :)
