...actually, those guys seem to be competing against themselves. LOL  Reference vs. Masterworks vs. Masters.

...Pearl USA needs to really add better snares to the line up though.  :-\   Japan has snares that U.S. Customs don't allow in the States.  :-\  I'm wondering what makes their specs so illegal.   :-\

They're made in Taiwan, well at least the higher end models are.  When JFunky referenced (no pun intended) Pearl USA, he is specifying the distribution of Pearl's product in the USA.  As a contrast, there is a Pearl Europe.

Taiwan is technically China. It's a sticky subject, but Taiwan has been trying to declare its independence for years.

Although beautiful and definitely innovative, I might have to disagree with this being the best.  The best thing I have seen from Pearl was a kit they made for Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers a couple of years ago.  They made this man a kit that had fiber optics in the shell and they basically had a light show going on as he played.  Of course this was probably way too expensive to mass produce.

Oh, and I'm also forgetting the "Hitman" kit they made for Bon Jovi drummer Tico Torres back in the late90's or so.  They actually commissioned an artist to do original oil paintings on all of the shells.  Also they put all gold hardware and hoops on the kit.  Once completed, the kit was said to have a value of $40,000.  No that's not a typo.

If I ever get an endorsement with Pearl, I'm gonna have them make me a kit covered entirely with flawless diamonds.  I'll have to play with armed guards around me.  They'll have to pose as dancers to not be so obvious.

That kit looks like a dream in person. However, the price tag will wake you up rather expeditiously... over 8k.

God bless

I don't know about that finish being the best thing Pearl had to offer, although it was very pretty that's. But for the price, IMO I would say not. They had some nice kits and the new pedal was cool.
Now the Odrey line-up was not as big as the others given the fact that the shipping cost was out of this world for them to ship more kits and the size of the company is not a Pearl; what they had on display was absolutely hands down the best in show,IMO. They sold a number of kits; the looks and sound put everyone on notice.

That was done by a third party vendor, which is CeeLite.  Pearl only made the shells, not the finish.

I can only imagine how much more this option is gonna cost.  Before you know it, drums are gonna cost just as much as cars.  Heck, some do already.

You are correct.  Here is some info I found on that kit.  They basically wrapped the kit with LED panels.

Yes sir... I thought I posted about them about 1.5 yrs ago on here. I know the discussion came up back then.... At any rate....

And Big Foot Big Thumb, actually the best finish Pearl ever made is probably the 24kt gold drum kit they made for Tico Torres after he gave them on Jovi's first Platinum Record. It is now in the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame. Yes folks... the entire double bass kit was 24kt. Think about the kit Jeff Ogletree made for danny Carrie out of Paiste cymbals but made out of 24kt gold instead. They asked Tico what he wanted and that is what he asked for... so they made it.
