Ok. I've been helping my second keys player learn the shouting usic we play at my church. While I won't reveal the individual shouts we do, I'll give you my basic breakdown of basic shouting music.
3 4 *b5*(dim5) 5 6 b7 7 1All of my stuff is in Db

This is the numbers I have above in chord form in Db
F/F-Ab-B-Db
Gb/E-Ab-Bb-Db
G/E-G-Bb-Db
Ab/F-Ab-B-Db
Bb/D-Ab-Bb-Db
B/Eb-Ab-Bb-Db
C/E-Ab-Bb-Db
Db/F-Ab-B-Db
I'm pretty sure you know basslines. And I hope you have a bass player.
While the bass player is doing his thing on the run you can do a very simple trill/chord whatever.
/(b5)5-1This is good for a sustained sound like an organ. Hold down the 5 and the 1 "forever" occassionally tapping the b5. I wish I could make midi to show you what it sounds like.
The above trick/trill/chord is efficient when the bass is doing something like this:
1 3 4 b5 5 6 b7 7 *repeat If the bass line is doing something like this:
1 2 b3 3 4 6 b7 7 *repeatThen you can alternate between these chords:
F/F-Ab-B-Db
Gb/E-Ab-Bb-Db
Whatever floats your boat, man. For me, some of the "sick-nasty" things I do during shouting music, happens by accident. So, just experiment with different things and sounds. I wish I could make a midi of these things but, I don't think I have the technology.
Hopefully this helps,
NJD
Oh and if you have any questions, feel free to PM me or post back here.
