Horn Section in Church
« on: April 29, 2009, 09:31:31 PM »

What is the average horn section in church made up of?

How many alto, tenor, soprano saxophones?
How many trombones?
How many trumpets?

We have just one trumpet player. We used to have two trumpets and a trombone player.

Mos churches seem to have one  or no horn players

Two trumpets one alto sax and a trombone in my experience is your most versatile section. It can cover pretty much any type sound you are trying to duplicate.

I would love to have one trumpet, one alto sax, one tenor sax, and one trombone.  I would LOVE that.  I've been scoring horn parts in Sibelius and I have no one to play them!

I am not a horn section fan, since my MOM doesn't write any parts. I prefer to be the only one, on sax. We have horn players and everyone is trying to improvise on their own. I am the most seasoned player and I don't have time to train and write parts.
