Someone in Denver made a major boo-boo...

For those who want a summary:

World Wrestling Entertainment's live, internationally televised broadcast, WWE Monday Night RAW?, (USA Network, 9:00 PM ET) to take place at the Pepsi Center in Denver next Monday, May 25th is in jeopardy of being cancelled by the Denver Nuggets. The WWE and Denver Nuggets are currently at an impasse in resolving a scheduling debacle by the team and the Pepsi Center. A sell-out crowd is expected to attend the WWE show at the same time the Denver Nuggets are slated to square off against the Los Angeles Lakers for Game 4 of the NBA Western Conference Finals. WWE has held the May 25th date with the Pepsi Center since August 15, 2008.

"Even though the Denver Nuggets had a strong team this year and were projected to make the playoffs, obviously Nuggets and Pepsi Center owner Stan Kroenke did not have enough faith in his own team to hold the May 25th date for a potential playoff game," said WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.

The two are going at it. Vince was on ESPN News earlier and took several shots at The Nuggets owner, even going so far as to displaying a Lakers jersey. He says that he plans on having a show in Denver come monday and his production trucks are already getting ready to head that way.

Personally, I have to go with Vince here. The Nuggets organization should've been more responsible than to book a date on what they knew could've been a possible playoff event. They even signed a confirmation contract with the WWE in April of this year! That's just irresponsible, and to throw a sold-out show in limbo because of it isn't fair. Not only that, but Vince has an obligation to fill up his 2-hour time-slot with USA as well. How do they expect him to deal with that? The WWE has a laid out schedule for the entire year, so it isn't as simple as "We'll just come back next week".

Yeah, the Nuggets messed up. This'll end up in court. In the meantime, does Denver have another large venue that can handle the event on short notice? I'm sure there's a lot of money in it for anyone who can figure it out.

Which event? $:-\$

I think the Nuggets should go to the alternate site. Or, just have Game 4 on Tuesday. This happens all the time in other sports. Don't know why this is such a big deal.

The NBA has a hang up moving it as well, because the Western Conference Finals air opposite the Eastern Conference Finals on opposite nights... I'm sure it's a big headache to change the night for them as well. However, these dates did just get set within the last week or so because it wasn't certain until then how long the semi-finals would run, with the Lakers and Magic carrying their respective series to seven games.

Yea, but the deciding factor is the fact that the WWE signed a contract in APRIL. That's legal and binding. This should be a wrap.

Indeed.

This could turn into a million dollar+ lawsuit otherwise.

Even if they let them use the parking lot, their contract probably stated that they'd be able to use the actual facility.

On the other hand, it's better for WWE to do it in the parking lot than not have it at all. Not only will they lose money, but they will also break their contract with USA.

This could possibly be a win-win situation, if they do both together. Maybe they can do a ticket package for both events.

Yeah, I think the Nuggets will breach the contract and take their chances in court, even though they don't have a leg to stand on and will likely lose, it doesn't look like they have too many options, unless they let the Lakers have another home game, LOL! I ain't mad at that...
