Fillers are those words you use while trying to think of what to say next, or while searching your mind for the right words to use. A few easy examples are: ummm, uhhh, and... or in church you'll hear: Amen, glory to God, hallelujah, c'mon church, turn to your neighbor, etc...
Haha! My main problem is that I'll get going pretty good and then turn back to my notes for the next point and there's kind of a hesitation there, so I say ummm...
I had a boss one time who challenged us to catch him using a filler word, I NEVER DID! He said when he was young he worked in a call center where he spoke with very affluent people, and he said "ummm" and the man on the phone was like, "Young man, did you just say 'ummm'? What is ummm?" He said from then on he made it his goal to eliminate fillers from his speech.
I could just be silent for that second and a half and go right into my next thought, but I have this overwhelming urge to fill that dead air. IDK, I'll definitely be working on it. This is SOOOO not a problem in writing, lol.
Oh, and thanks HD, the CD isn't worth paying for due to quality and the rough edges on my presentation. The word was good, though, so I'm still contemplating putting it out there for feedback and improvement.
