great basses but, from my experience the necks are a little to fat for my taste. Still a wonderful piece of work.

I played a Corvette fretless. Loved the tone but I thought the bass was heavy.

I've got a Streamer $$ and I love the tone.  However it does not have your typical warwick growly tone because of the flamed maple neck as opposed to ovankgol - it still growls in its own way.  Its a heavy chunk o'wood though coming in at almost 10 lbs!

As with other large brands (Fender, Yamaha, Ibanez) they have some products that if you are offered one, you should run and hide.  They have other products that you would want to consider no matter what it cost.

I'm not particularly impressed with their Rockbass line of products.  I really like the Thumb and Streamer products.  The only thing I don't like about the Thumb and the Streamer is the neck profile.  Warwick necks are often described as chunky and like a baseball bat.

Thumbs and Streamers and some of the higher end Corvettes (Jazzman and another model I can't think of off the top of my head) are what I think of when I hear Warwick's tag line, "The Sound Of Wood".  I played a bunch of Warwicks one afternoon many years ago and that's exactly the impression they left me with.

I've never played a Dolphin, but I've had a couple folks who have told me that they are excellent basses.  I couldn't get over the look of the thing.  When it comes to looks, my all time favorite Warwick is the Warwick Infinity

I played one at Elderly Music in Lansing, Michigan the year they came out.  It took incredible will-power (and a waaaay too high price tag) for me to leave the store without it.

Peace,

James

Great basses. A little pricey, and the weight is a bit on the heavy side. Other than that, a good investment.

Here is a brotha doing his thing on a Warwick. Very good tone on both slap & finger style & they are good quality basses. Also they say engineers love them in the studio.

i had set in at a church that I play for the 830am service (not my home church). it was the 11am service. so i told him that i promised my pastor (my home church) that i'd loan my him bass and i am going to take it to him now. he said ok we have one you can play. So i said ok. it was a warwick bolt on thumb 4string. so we had a run through and i could not get a tone i liked it was so dark and boomy the whole time. it was so boomy i was stunned that i was playing through a 4x10 mesa cab.

i thought the neck was too thick.

Warwicks made in/before 98 are awesome...I have a swamp ash Corvette Std 5 and absolutely love it.

Wicks made after 98 have an ovankol neck and the profile is a bit different (hence the reason they get a bad rep for having baseball bat necks)

FWIW, keep the body wood in mind when considering weight.  Bubinga is heavier and sounds alot different than swamp ash

My warwick streamer standard was just too heavy for my taste.
Keep God first and he'll do the rest!!!
