Do we have any idea how old this clip is? The person that they were talking to may not have understood what he said. I wouldn't be too quick to jump on them. I guess I want to give them the benefit of the doubt...
Now to the clip:
Regardless of my personal feeling on him, George is an exceptional player to say the least. I like his sense of placement, and the way he sets up the accents. That was one of the things that got me into his playing. He's really solid for all of the stuff that he plays (movement around the kit). Of all of the clips that I have heard of him play, I have yet to hear him push a tempo or rush anything. That is a display of a true sense of being centered in the tempo and knowing the space between the notes. His energy is also exceptional. He has a lot of intangible qualities that a lot of cats wish they had.
No one can argue his skills with the sticks.
