i went to a church to play the drums about an hour away, there was about 20 people total there, we missed our service for theirs. we have about 150-175 on thursday's. i didnt care tho, the pastor's, my aunts sister and brother in law, were having some trouble and they wanted a little revival and for the Holy Spirit to move. So we went and played around 2 hours straight. i prayed before i played and i told God to use me and take me to another level in what i do, i dont wanna do this same things anymore, i want to glorify your name best as you let me. and so i played, and glory to God i played the best ive ever played in my life. It felt so good, everything i did was not my own, it was God using me, i could tell because sometimes i would fell like i was going to mess up something because my hand was too slow on a hit but everything came out very well, glory to God. and everything was done, and then the pastor wanted to pray for me.
and the God spoke to me. telling me that i dont even have an idea of how far he's going to take me. that i will be with the people that i most admire.
and i believe it 100%
basically the lesson is, what kind of drummer are you?
do you play thinking about how you sound? or do you praise God as you play and let him use you?
do you try to impress people? or do you try to impress God?
i was thinking, anyone can play the drums, anyone can jam and anyone can "kill it"
but the real blessing is, when you play, that demon's flee, that when you play the Holy Spirit moves. playing just to play is not what we are called to do.
In the old times, musician's were at the front line's of battle werent they?
where do you think we are now?
are you in the back of the squad doing a show with your God given gift?
or are you fighting the spiritual battle that we must fight everyday.
for there to be a battle there has to be 2 sides. and you already know what side we are on. We as musician's lead the battle. and we need to become more then musician's. we need to do more then just play. we need to minister to people.
God has also told me, when i play that demon's flee. and He also told me that there will be occasions where i will need to stop playing to go out and pray for someone. it hasnt happened yet, but i know its coming. Everyone of us need's to fulfill our duties as musician's, not by just playing, but leading, and ministering.
dont just try to get better, dont ask God for you to get better, I think we all need to pray that when we play the Spirit moves, and demon's flee and that lives are touched. God will take you as far as he wants, and he will make you as good as he wants you to be. but sometimes, people forget the other reason why we play music. not just to glorify God, but to touch lives of the lost, because God knows, that is the other half of playing music at church.
God Bless everyone that read this and those who didnt, i believe God put this in me. i should be asleep right now, but i just needed to write this before i went to sleep.
