did Michael Jackson
« on: July 08, 2009, 09:46:31 AM »
have ANY kind of Christian testimony? I heard an intro for the Jackson family's pastor(but not his message). One of the commentators made a remark about leaving  being

raised a jehovah witness and turning to islam. Also, there was a remark that the service was being turned into a revival for JESUS;as some of the artists invoked HIS NAME

in song.

At a sobering time as this ;it is great to speak and believe that one is in a "better place".Apart from CHRIST,no matter what is said-it's NOT a good place much less a"

BETTER place."Think about ALL the other 200,000 who have been gone 2 weeks on thur.In heaven, absolute bliss;in hades -it probably has SEEMED an eternity

with ALL of eternity in front of them.wow

Man looks on the outward appearance, but... well, you know the rest.  :-\

I was just telling a friend yesterday that when my cousin passed away in November after a lifetime of sin and immorality, my mother said something that changed my life.  My mom coordinated the funeral service, and consulted with me for all the major decisions.  She asked me to write the obituary and design the funeral program.  One of the changes she wanted to make was to change "funeral" to "homegoing."

Of course, I was like,  ?/? ::).

Then, when we discussed the eulogy, I told my mom to please make sure he knew not to get up there talking foolishness about us seeing her in heaven and how she's resting peacefully now and all that nonsense preachers say just to make the family feel better.  I didn't want any songs on the program that referred to heaven or anything like that.  My cousin hadn't stepped foot in a church since we were children.  I told my mom, "she wasn't saved, so let's not pretend she was.  It is what it is."

My mom simply said, "you don't know what took place in her heart before she took her last breath."

Enough said.

When you're in love you don't want to fall asleep bc reality is finally better than your dreams.

That "he/she is a better place makes you think huh"?  Many people would like to believe that is the case for anyone they have known probably to make themselves feel that they will one day be in a better place.  However, not our will but His will be done.

And like it was said, no way can it be a better place with Jesus.  Lord blinded eyes need to be opened In Jesus Name.

So you are telling me that I can act a pure fool all my life and then wait until my death bed to come to Christ?  Oh yeah...that's a message the we should promote.

IMO,  that's not the message being promoted b/c a lot of people die unexpectedly w/o a deathbed. On the same note, we often turn funerals into a service for the dead when it is actually meant and intended to celebrate the life lived but encourage and minister to those who are left here on earth.

MJ knows who his God was and the relationship between him and God. So why should the world even be discussing his personal relationship and whether him being JW meant he understood where he was going?

The main point is so many people has so much to say about what someone did while they were living and what they believe and don't believe. No one is in anyone's mind and cannot acct for their personal actions. A lot of people belong to a denomination or religious group but don't believe in anything it stands for.

I don't believe in nothing the Baptist do, but that's what denomination i am in. However as long as you know God for yourself, who cares what others think...the rest is secondary info... You can be the biggest drunk and still die and go to heaven because of your love for God through simple repentance. It's not about how a person publicly broadcast their relationship with God b/c that is just 'lip-service'. Do what you do sincerely and make it personal, as long as God knows-he is the only one that matters.

I am positive many 'public-Christians' have died and gone str8 to hell...

That's definitely not what I'm saying (and I don't think that's what my mom was getting at, either).

What I WILL say, though, is that only God is sovereign and able to determine and declare who will make it in.  Furthermore, anyone who comes to Him with a sincere and repentant heart WILL BE saved... regardless of what they've done prior to that moment (and regardless of how much more time they have left).  Personally, I thank GOD for that.

Another thing to consider, if God wanted to, He could've raised her up from that bed to test her faith and see if she really meant it; if she really wanted Him in her life.  But, He didn't.  I can't say why He didn't, but I know that (a) He could've, and (b) He already knew whether she meant it or not.  :-\

We Christians really just gotta stop trying to play God, even in the subtlest of ways... in our thoughts, in our assumptions, in our logic, in our reasoning, in our speculations, in our judging and hypothesizing.

Who here can declare, without a doubt, that MJ went to heaven?  Who can declare, without a doubt, that he went to hell?

THAT right there ^^^^^^ is my point.

(But for the record, to directly answer your question, yeah... I believe you CAN act the fool all your life and come to Christ at the end and be saved from hell.  But, that's ultimately a serious risk to take, and it's ultimately God's decision to make.

That's between Michael and God.  God hasn't burdened any of us with the responsibility of determining anyone's eternity but our own.  Like Rue said, and like I found out when my uncle passed about a year ago, we don't know, so why get worked up over speculating.  God has it in control and trust, he ain't stressin'.

Preach, 4!  Ya know, I think about that a lot.  Many are so sure they know who's making it in, they better be sure their name is written down, and quit trippin' about dead folks.  What we say ain't gonna change nothin' anyway...

Dang, 4...that's the passage I immediately thought of.

We Christians really just gotta stop trying to play God, even in the subtlest of ways... in our thoughts, in our assumptions, in our logic, in our reasoning, in our speculations, in our judging and hypothesizing.

And there's your answer. This is getting sooo old.  ::)

I know I'm not promoting that at all.  I disagree with both angles, I hate when people say with assurety someone is in heaven and they don't know.  Just leave it alone, it's not our call to make.
