I am requesting to hear Rown, Jlynnb1, Dave, Jay and others play a solo jam to this same MJ track to see how they would pull it off.
Personally, I think Mayer did a very good job.
If I can find the time, I'm down for that.
Actually, I've never heard Rown play at all... Let's do it

And, Rown, just so we are clear, I have respect for everyone here, and I don't try to argue (I think when I respond via the blackberry, I lose even more communication skills. It's hard enough just through typing, but if you take away the emoticons... well, then it's just horrible lol).
Regardless, I appreciate the compliment, and it actually seems like you've got me nailed, as I am pretty open to all music, but I wouldn't say that what Mayer pulled out was anything near "guitar 101."
What I mean by that is a young guitar player may be able to play that same thing note for note, but what you will miss is the nuance and control (vibrato, dynamics, etc.). Well, that, and maybe the silly faces.

(besides, I remember you saying once about soloing... and I quote:
Relax, keep it simple, target notes, tasteful. You are the human being.Master the guitar. You are the boss.Make the guitar sound, and do as you see fit.I refuse to let an instrument, defeat me.No-way,not in this lifetime. The devil is a liar.May sound cocky, but this is my approach
IT DO NOT HAVE TO BE FASSSSST
(I added the first bold for emphasis... the second one was there already)
Prince an Dubose are fine musicians, they were just brought up because they seem to be the litmus test around here, for some unknown reason.

Anyhow... no hard feelings, but this is a call to all on here to actually listen to each other (er... read thoroughly...)
So, if anyone knows of that backing track, or a similar one, let's do this.
Or, if I get the time and the nerve, maybe I'll finally lay down that 80's ballad thing... but it kinda owned me lol. I'm not gonna lie.
