<><><>Loyalty to the Org.<><><>
« on: July 28, 2009, 01:54:36 PM »
Okay, you move out of town and began to seek a church home.  You visit several churches.  There is one in town that belongs to your oranization but there is another one that you visited that blesses you more and has the same feel as the church you left.

Do you join the church of your organization?

Or do you join the church that blesses you the most?

Definitely the latter. NEVER would I attend a church just because it's part of my 'organization'.  ::)

I was gonna start this thread a while back, but totally forgot.

Me, I doesent matter to me. When I get to Heaven, I dont expect to see a baptist, cogic or lutheran section. But if I were looking for a new church, I would check out COGIC, Pentecostal, Non demoninational, Baptist and SDA in that order

I'm big on my organization, BUT if the church blesses you then go... BUT when I called myself "leaving" COGIC, I went to a church and almost died there because there was no district meeting, no state meetings/convocation, no workers meetings, no choir functions, no state choir, no district choir, no NUFFIN! So if you are very involved with your organization, I would say its a bad idea, because I was itchin' for a meeting to be in (COGIC folks are very busy and travel a lot) or a banquet or SOMETHING!  So weigh your options, because for me even tho the "church" blessed me, what it was connected to could keep me interested.  :)

A whole lot of criteria go into my decision-making, but 'organization' is not high on the list at all.  It's on the list only because there are some that I'd automatically exclude due to doctrine.

I'd have to lean in LL's direction, except the organization isn't as far down on my list as it is on his.  I'm also leaning in U13's direction.

I've lived and/or worked in various cities, so I've been in that place before.  Typically, I ALWAYS try to find an Apostolic or Pentecostal 7th Day Church, but those are like finding a needle in a haystack.  After that, I start visiting either Apostolic or COGIC churches.  At this point in my life, if I had to move again, I'd probably eliminate COGIC from my options just because of doctrinal differences.

At the end of the day, I'd definitely join the church where I could be a blessing, and where I was being blessed.  I would never join a church just because of the organizations.  There isn't a single organization out there (non-denom included) that isn't severely flawed, one way or another.  I don't care about organization, but I do care about doctrinal teachings.

The organization would definitely be HIGH on my list of considerations for me if I were joining a church, especially if you're VERY ACTIVE in the organization, but it would only be just ONE consideration, and not THE only one, of course. I would definitely agree with Bishop2. If you're used to being a part of an organization and doing a LOT of things with your organization, going from that to a non-denominational church is like going from having a large family with many siblings to being an only child. It's BORING.

Like LaRue said, ALL churches are flawed. At this point in life, I can tell you with certainty that I would NOT join an Apostolic church for sure. If I were to ever move I would defintiely look at COGIC churches first, then go from there.

I'll try to help you out, little bruh.

Where YOU'RE going in ministry, the Lawdt is going to place you in a church that has an excellent music ministry and STILL expect you to improve the music department... you're gonna be so great that you're going to be sent to the places with greatness to make them even GREATER!!!  ;D ;)

Eek! I knew that would potentially incur wrath of Mama Rue!  :o :D

It's for doctrinal reasons, though, and the fact that there are so many 100s of Apostolic organizations that I can't keep up with them, and not all of them even believe the same thing. UPC, PAW, COOLJC, Bibleway, AOH (which I just learned about the other day), etc., etc., etc. At this point I would just as soon stick with what I know, and in the meantime chew the meat and spit out the bones (which you have to do at ANY church).
