I knew a guy several years back who told me he was a Minister of the Gospel. I was introducing him to friends one day and I said this is Minister So-So and he kept saying "when the Lord says the same".

So I pulled him to the side and asked him if he were and he said he was not officially ordained but believed he was called.

Should a person call themselves Elder, or Minister, or Reverend if they have not been ordained and/or have an official license?

Normally I would say a resounding NO.  But people call themselves SAVED all the time with no evidence thereof, so ?????

Herm good point... I don't walk around with my Baptism certificate but on the other hand like Nessa said if I am going to minister to people I should at least be checked out. That is why I DO NOT let everybody lay hands on me or pray for me!

That is just as wrong.  People misrepresenting Christ causes a lot of trouble.

On the other hand, some people are saved and things happen to cause onlookers to say, "They're not saved like I thought they were".  Even when you repent and receive restoration, people aren't gonna forget.

People will have something to say if you wear all white with built-in angel wings....
