Women: Is it THAT serious?
« on: August 24, 2009, 12:53:03 PM »
A furious customer had to be dragged off her hairdresser by police after her perm went wrong at a salon in Serbia.

Terrified Nevena Zivkovic dialled cops when hysterical Ruzica Radovic saw her bubble perm in a mirror after the treatment at a beauty parlour in Novi Sad.

Ruzica - who had to be calmed with a sedative at hospital - insisted she hadn't asked for curly hair.

A police spokesman said: "When we got a call from the shop we thought that there was a criminal in there attacking the staff.

"But instead what we found when we got there was an extremely angry lady who was unhappy with her hairdo.

"Our officers have had to deal with some very strange situations before but none of us can remember anything like this."

Shop owner Zivkovic said: "I am still in shock. She just went wild. If she was that unhappy she could have just said and we would have refunded her money."

Maybe she said "perm" but meant "relaxer".

What's with you and all these ananova stories today???  :-\ ?/?

And to answer the question, no, it's not that serious to me.  I'd definitely be angry and demand my money back, but I wouldn't flip out.

I think I told y'all that back in November, the day before my ordination, I went to have my ends clipped.  I told the girl 1/4 of an inch, and she took off 4 inches.  I was a little annoyed, but I let it go quickly because she was extremely upset and it really wasn't that serious.  :-\  It's hair.  It grows back. *shrug*
When you're in love you don't want to fall asleep bc reality is finally better than your dreams.

For me, it wouldn't be THAT serious however, it IS serious!!

Example:
If I've suffered through growing my hair out for 1 to 2 years w/out a perm, to give it a good healthy start, intending to have it permed professionally in the end...

Then I go to a Salon to someone whose supposed to be a professional, and they Over Process it to the point of falling out, I would definitely be upset! Giving me a refund is not going to give me my hair back.

It's not as if I can just go wash the hair style out and get a new one. Once it's ruined I'd have to cut it and start over and I would not be very happy about that.

I agree that it's serious.  It's not like it's easy to hide if something's gone really wrong.  And like Lady E said, when you've spent so much time growing it, you'll probably want some compensation if someone's ineptitude leaves your hair damaged.

If your hair isn't right then nothing else is right. You can have on designer clothes and shoes to match. But if your hair is jacked up, what good is it???

A woman's hair is like the icing on the cake.

I always throught perms (not relaxers) could wash out if you took a shower right after you got it done.

Whats the difference between a perm and a relaxer? ?/?

And I think you are supposed to wash the perm out after a certain amount of time.

A relaxer "relaxes" the curl (straightens) and a perm gives curls to naturally straight hair.

What exactly did you mean by the last statement?  Shampoo it out right after application or shampoo your hair some days after getting one??  ?/?

A relaxer is what "other" folks would call a "straight perm"

When applying a perm, you wash it out after so many minutes, or you'll burn your stuff up, lol.

Don't mess with a woman's glory. 1 Corinthians 11:15
But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
There might be a price to pay more than money.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

OK, I've heard the term used interchangebly by Black women, so I didnt know the difference.

And by my second statement, I meant what Nessa said.

Yeah, we use it interchangeably because the relaxer is in effect a perm, and most of the time it's the only perm black women get... Well, I guess the Jheri curl is still hot in some regions, lol!

There's an older lady in my church that stills gets a Jheri curl.

Sometimes when she's sitting in front of me I just look at it. I can't believe I use to get one back in the day. I don't know how I dealt with all that moisture, LOL.

I would post one of my pics from the Jheri curl days....but I dare not! LOLOLO :D :D :D
