Yep, we're all family.   And even in the worst case scenario, once you get your topic out there, the LGMers can have discussion and help put you at ease.  You choose how you want to do it, you can ask for input early instead of going through the whole thing by yourself, I know it can feel lonely when yours is the only voice you hear, lol.  I really felt the video component added a little of that live feel, because though I couldn't see everybody, I could see a few of them.

Awesome stuff last night, Nessa.
Praise God, pray for me, I have to do an inspirational talk at the Praise Explosion tonight...  I was tempted to do my bible study on my topic for tonight so you guys could help me and give me more perspectives, lol, but the Lord wouldn't let me do that.

Exactly.

Also, I have two scriptures to help as well... well, three but I can't quite think of the third one. It's in the back of my mind, but I can't remember enough of it to find it. :D

Anyway:

When God called Jeremiah as a prophet to the nations, Jeremiah was like ?/? :o  Me???? I'm just a kid.

“O Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I can’t speak for you! I’m too young!” The Lord replied, “Don’t say, ‘I’m too young,’ for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you. And don’t be afraid of the people [KJV says 'be not afraid of their faces'], for I will be with you and will protect you. I, the Lord, have spoken!” Then the Lord reached out and touched my mouth and said, “Look, I have put my words in your mouth! (Jeremiah 1:6-9 NLT)

Jeremiah wasn't the only one who was called before he felt ready. I mean honestly, the Bible is full of stories of people who had to lead, speak, prophesy, teach, preach, fight, or just GO before they felt ready. Remember Moses with his stuttering problem? Paul with his thorn AND his past... but look at what Paul said (this is one of my favorite passages - I use it every single time I have to minister):

You'll remember, friends, that when I first came to you to let you in on God's master stroke, I didn't try to impress you with polished speeches and the latest philosophy. I deliberately kept it plain and simple: first Jesus and who he is; then Jesus and what he did—Jesus crucified.

I was unsure of how to go about this, and felt totally inadequate—I was scared to death, if you want the truth of it—and so nothing I said could have impressed you or anyone else. But the Message came through anyway. God's Spirit and God's power did it, which made it clear that your life of faith is a response to God's power, not to some fancy mental or emotional footwork by me or anyone else.
(I Corinthians 2:1-5 TMB)

I'm definitely in favor of Vonne teaching!  You know we've all got your back, sis.  It's not a popularity contest or a competition.  It's just some like-minded folk getting together to share the word of the Lord.  So, from the jump, know we're with you!

Good stuff last night Nessa!  My kids were all around me, so I had some distractions (hence no video).  But, when I was able to focus, it was great!  I enjoyed everyone's input as well.  I used the wrong headset last night, so you guys couldn't hear me.  I'll fix that next time.

I would've loved to hear your input, LL.  You know, it would be cool if LGM was a launching pad for someone's ministry.  I could see myself inviting several of you to come teach the word at one of my conferences or something here locally.  And I could see having several more come to minister musically or teach a music workshop or something.  LGM is an awesome resource of gifts and talents.

That's one of the things I love about 'us' is that we're NOT trying to impress or tune up or whatever... there's no pressure to make folks shout or flood the altar or wave hankies... we're just really having a discussion and learning from each other. I love it.

Sucks that you couldn't share last night. I always look forward to hearing your input. (And it's ok if the kids are in the background... you saw BBG's fam, right? :D :D :D  that was too funny! lol).

Oh, and I'm about to watch the marshmallow experiment. I'm especially interested in this kinda stuff now that I'm taking this research methods class.

I found a video of the cookie experiment I was talking about. This is a recent one, though, and they used marshmallows instead of cookies.

Kids Marshmallow Experiment

The marshmallow experiment is a famous test of this concept conducted by Walter Mischel at Stanford University and discussed by Daniel Goleman in his popular work. In the 1960s, a group of four-year olds were given a marshmallow and promised another, only if they could wait 20 minutes before eating the first one. Some children could wait and others could not. The researchers then followed the progress of each child into adolescence, and demonstrated that those with the ability to wait were better adjusted and more dependable (determined via surveys of their parents and teachers), and scored an average of 210 points higher on the Scholastic Aptitude Test.

That was the cutest thing ever. Those kids were hilarious. :D :D :D

And the point was not lost on me. :)

So I was all ready for the study. I'm still upset about how close I was to attending, but when you are out of town plans sometimes change. Maybe next time.  :(

WOW.

Absolutely WOW.

So, you may not believe this, but it's ok. I have a witness.

I was JUST on the phone with LL and just before we hung up, he said "hey, question. What ever happened with Bible Study?" :) To make a long story short, we're going to try to start it back up. He's going to teach next Wednesday (he would've done it this week, but his birthday is Wednesday). So, if we can find someone to facilitate this week, we'll start back up this week. (Assuming everyone is still interested).

When I saw the thread bumped up, I totally thought it was LL. I literally just got off the phone with him a few minutes ago and asked him to bump it in case I forgot. Wow.

Facilitate means it's your night.... you can either teach a lesson or present a lesson topic and ask discussion questions... (a more shy person can even pull a lesson from the internet).

I just don't want everyone to think that you have to be comfortable teaching in order to take a night. You don't even have to be comfortable speaking. At a minimum, you can just find a list of relevant questions (online or through your own study or from a Sunday School book, for example) and just ask the questions. We're a pretty talkative bunch, and at the very least you know Hasmo, TJ, LL, Nessa and I will keep the convo going... and might even have questions of our own. LOL.

So yeah, I would think it could be as easy or as hard as a person wanted to make it. Right now, we just need people to volunteer so we don't burn out the same folks over and over again.
