Well let me rephrase what I said lol, Doctors have been giving me certain pills that haven't worked. One doctor suggested that I change up my eating habits by cutting out the things that I mentioned and working out more. My coworker who has been doing this for the past 3 weeks has a lot of the same issues I've been dealing with and she suggested it to me as well...it's worth trying :)

Ok.  I guess the decision makes sense for the both of you.  Alright, carry on.   ;D

The past few weeks I have been successful at controling the amount of processed sugar I consume. When I get that urge to eat a bunch of sweets or drink sugary drinks I replaced it with a piece of fruit or I buy a fruit juice. Looks like this is really going to work. I did see some huge macadamia nut cookies at a gas station. I started to buy three but made myself buy one. :) Normally I eat sweets everyday but that urge has drastically decreased. I also cut back on my water consumption I think I drink too much in one sitting. Now I just got to get myself to exercise. :)

Subtle change works. :) The minor changes I have made have switched my diet somewhat. I'm at outback. I got a burger and salad. I was about to get the sweet venture trio dessert and take some home but soon after I ate the burger my sweet tooth has gone away. Fruit juice, water ad sweetened tea with lemon does wonders. I'm almost sure I've lost weight eventhough I have not been exercising.

Fruit Juice contains a lot of sugar as well

Natural fruit sugar is better still than the processed. Plus I'm not drinking the juice like water.  Too much juice can be bad.

I would advise anyone to get some kind of high quality herbal detox. I've been on a 21 day cleanse and there is definitely a difference in the way my body has been acting. Hope this solves the gray hair issue.  :)

If it doesn't, Clairol will.  :D :D :D

Soooooooooooooooo... how's everybody doing with their transformation?

I'm doing GREAT with my finances. Hallelujah to God for that! I would give myself a 7 out of 10 (gotta get out of the mindset that 75% off at Dillard's is a good reason to dip into my savings).  :-\ :-[ ;D :D

I'm doing okay with my spiritual goals. I guess I'd take a 6 out of 10. There were some specific steps I wanted to take that I haven't yet done. I was hoping to be in the A-, B+ range, but uhhh... not quite. However, I have made quite a few changes and passed a few tests, glory to God.

Physically, I'd give myself a 6 out of 10. I'm doing great with my water. I'm drinking more than I ever have in my entire life (averaging about a bottle a day). I'm not doing that great with the vegetables. I'm trying so hard to include at least one veggie a day, but it's kinda difficult when that's just not a part of my lifestyle. I would say I probably have 1 or 2 a week, currently.  :-[  However, I'm taking my multi-vitamins pretty regularly.  Kinda slacked off with the exercise regimen a little, but I get it in in different ways so it probably balances out.  ;D

Overall, I'm reassessing my goals tonight because I really want to do better and I'm trying to take this really seriously. Forming new habits is pretty difficult.

If you are not eating but 1 veggie I'm wondering what your are eating. It's easy to eat veggies. Put alot on a sandwich. Eat an apple a day or every two days. Eat soups and chillis. I make myself eat veggies cooked in the cafeteria at the job. I had butter beans and collards with a tuna fish sandwich that had lettuce and tomato with pickle.  ;D Not what I wanted but I needed it. Stuffed myself at redbowl last night. :)

For one, I'm a huge fan of starch. If it wasn't for this conviction, I could live the rest of my life on just starch and summer fruit. I would never have to touch a vegetable, and although I like meat on occasion, I could definitely do without it.

Secondly, I'm very finicky.  Yesterday, I joined some co-workers for lunch (huge accomplishment, btw... yayyyy me!!!). I had meatloaf, mashed potatoes and collard greens.  The greens were extremely mushy and chopped really small. I think they were canned and overcooked, which equates to GROSS. I ate one bite and threw the rest out.

Honestly, I could list a zillion reasons that I don't eat enough vegetables, but really what it all comes down to is failure to prepare. I could put some peas, salad, greens, broccoli, or cabbage in a tupperware container every day and bring it with me to work. The problem is, I don't do it... *shrug*  I'll go to the cafeteria at work, and they'll have a veggie I don't eat, so I just skip the veggie for the day.  I don't eat sandwiches often. On the rare occasion that I crave a sandwich, I don't like a bunch of stuff on it. It's either going to be salami, cheese, and mustard or egg salad (which I just got into a few weeks ago). I don't put lettuce and stuff on my sandwiches.

I'm just finicky and I don't like veggies in the first place.

You know what really amazes me? How you insist on putting a "t" at the end of certain after I've told you a hundred fifty-leven times that there is no "t" at the end of that word!!!! LOL!!!  :D :D

And yes, you are very much like me. You should be thanking the Lord upon every remembrance.  8)

I've lost 40 pounds since last June, and my goal is to lose another 30. I am really not doing too much except not eating so much fried foods, and drinking TONS of water. I walk 2 miles a day, rain, sleet or snow. So far, it works for me.

Checking in....

Nessa, Churchy, MM04... how are you all doing with your goals and progress?

Although I'm better than I was before this began, I'm still nowhere near where I wanted to be. I have definitely lost my excitement (as I knew I would eventually), so I've slacked here and there, but a lot of the changes did stick.

1. I drink more water now. I don't drink two or more bottles every day, but before I started this transformation, I may have had a bottle of water every month or even every other month. Now, I drink at least one every day.

2. I eat more vegetables now. Before the transformation, I had vegetables about twice a month. Now, I still don't eat 5 servings of veggies and fruits every day, as I'm supposed to. But I do make conscious efforts to incorporate vegetables into my diet wherever possible. I add vegetables to dishes I wouldn't otherwise add vegetables to. And I buy fruit each time I go grocery shopping. When I eat out, instead of getting my regular two sides, I make a habit of getting a vegetable along with one of my preferred sides.

3. I haven't done my exercise routine in a while, but I park at the back of the garage at work and walk up the hill to the next level to get to the elevator.  In the evening, I get off the elevator downstairs, and walk up the hill one level to my car. I also park far from the door at stores so I can walk a little extra, and I still take the stairs as often as I can.

So... I'm better, but not as good as I wanna be. I'm a work in progress.  ;D

I'm just starting my transformation. I haven't eaten fast food in 4 days and I've lost about 3 lbs. I could easily eat out over 16 times a week, but now I'm eating bananas or oatmeal for breakfast, continuing to eat "smart ones" frozen meals for lunch and I kinda cheat at dinner with frozen chicken wings or a salami and cheese sandwich. I also try to drink a bottle of water everyday and hopefully get up to 4 a day. I've cut out soda, but now I guess I shouldnt be drinking snapple either :( This should save me a ton of money too.

Yesterday I started walking, did a mile. I hope to do that everyday and add a 1/4 mile every other day. until I'm walking for 45 minutes at least 5 days a week. I'll probably start working out with my dad on the total gym, he's been bugging me about that for a minute.

Pray for me yall.

I'll be praying for you, U13.

I still need help with my abs in a major way. I keep hearing that walking/running does wonders for your abs, but I can't afford to burn calories and drop pounds, so I'm not sure what to do. Crunches are my enemy, so that's not an option.

I think the workout with your dad will be awesome. And yeah, if I were you, I'd try to drop the Snapple, or at least limit it to once a week or so. Drink more water, and if you have to have some "flavor" try the Crystal Light thingies.

My cousin that I just met lost 5 lbs in the past week just from stopping her emotional eating. She said that she decided to only eat/snack when she is hungry, not just when she's bored, upset, happy, or nervous... so she lost 5 lbs in the first week of that. I'm so proud of her!

Whats so bad about crunches? Get the ab roller. :D

Yeah, I have a whole case left, so once thats done I might try the diet snapple...though I hate diet drinks.

Also since cutting out fast food, I have so much energy. Usually I'm falling asleep at work, but I havent even been tired the past couple of days.

as for emotional eating...I dont think that was me, I just ate to eat. :-\
