Okay well I won't try to taste it. LOL. I'm funny about new stuff. :-\

IRT the elliptical, I'm so excited for you and CRACKING UP @ the part in bold! LOL!!!!!

That's a serious schedule, sis. I'll be praying with you that you can maintain it and be consistent. You know that's always the hardest part. I'm praying I can be consistent with this water and my new skin care regimen. It's only been a week and I can see a noticeable difference already. I'm not even bothering God about the vegetables yet... LOL!

I hear you.  I'll pray for you, you pray for me.

So my landlord's a health nut, and her husband's a nutritionist and a former personal trainer.  They are a gold mine as far as a resource.  So I was talking to her about my water intake, and she suggested adding lemon and ginger to the water.  I've heard of lemon, but not ginger, so I started to read up on it.  Ginger is an anti-inflammatory, and lemon has a cleansing/antiseptic thing going on.  Combined they are said to help decrease your appetite and some other stuff.  Not sure yet on the taste, but these health nuts say it is good... and I'm learning I can work myself up to acquiring tastes if it's going to be better for me.

In my reading, the best way I've found (or the one I want to try first), is to by the Real Lemon juice, and make ginger juice using a garlic press and just add it to my jug.  I have to buy all three of those items, so I'll try go get it started this weekend.

Sounds like a good plan (especially the fresh ginger part - any Jamaican can sing the praises of fresh ginger if you need a soundtrack or something... lol).

As for acquiring tastes, as finicky as I am, I'm learning as I mature a little bit that I, too, can "acquire a taste" (or at least force myself in spite of the taste) for foods that have health benefits. My sister and I went to Whole Foods on Sunday and I got into a conversation about my failure to take good care of my body with a group of ladies. They couldn't believe that I don't eat vegetables and I was almost embarrassed by the look they gave me as we discussed my dietary habits and things. They made me taste this stuff... it was called Green something, which ordinarily would be an automatic HECK NAW, along with some a few exclamation points and a lot of head shaking and "are you crazy" looks. But I tasted it. It was a chocolate flavored grass drink... I wish I could remember the name of it... but aside from the fact that it was green and made from grass and other grossness, it was actually not that bad. It had a chocolate mint flavor. Of course, I wouldn't buy it and sure couldn't drink a whole glass of it. But I'm just proud of myself for tasting it! LOL! :D :D

On second thought, I should've checked out the serving size. If it's a shot glass, I probably could've stomached that on a regular basis.

One blogger swears that if you use sparkling water it tastes like lemonade ginger ale!  #aliefromthepit  LOL!  Health nuts always try to make stuff sound like it tastes better than it does, lol.

I use to add strawberry crystal light to sparkling water...it did taste like strawberry soda.

I'm trying it now... not the sparkling water but the lemon and ginger.  I used lemon juice, and then I didn't have a garlic press to get the juice from the ginger, so I just peeled a couple of pieces and through them in there.  It actually does have a hint of a ginger ale type flavor.  Makes sense, I guess.  It's not bad at all.

Ginger also is said to help with heartburn/reflux, so maybe at least it'll counter the acid in the lemon from bothering me.

Another update, is I've been catching up on my medical health.  Since i started having these minor problems (they really are minor if I work on them now), I started loathing the doctor and stopped going altogether.  That wasn't the right answer, and lately I discovered that I really needed to find a doctor that I can work together with as a team on my health.  I'm so passive about stuff like this, so if I don't like the way they talk to me, or just don't have a chemistry with them, I feel like it's me and stop going.  I recently realized, that I am paying good money for this service.  Doctors are a respected well paid profession because you and I pay them!  We hire them to serve us, so if I don't like the Doctor, I can fire him/her!

So that's what I did.  I found a new doc, and so far so good.  He's very thorough, and explains everything to me instead of acting like I'm too stupid to get it (that's what my first doctor did), and just making decisions for me without discussing anything with me.  He does all the exams and tests with painstaking attention to every little detail.  He's brought up things that I've had for years and no doctor has ever even thought to address them.   I'm so happy with him.  He's from the middle east so he has that direct approach to everything, he doesn't really sugar coat, but I like that.  I go back in three months, in which time we will measure my progress and modify my course of action.   I'm very happy with him.  (I said that already, but it bears repeating, lol).

Tooting my own horn, here!

Today marks the end of week 3 for me. I've had 50-60 oz of water nearly every day for the past 3 weeks. I haven't had any soft drinks or sweet tea at restaurants, and have only had one cup of coffee in the mornings and water for the rest of the day.

I slacked on the weekends a little bit (but still no soft drinks or sweet tea), only because I have my huge 52 oz thermos at work but I don't have one to bring with me for the weekends.

Anyway, just thought I would celebrate ME a little bit!  ;D

So My bike came yesterday. So hopefully it'll be set up by Thursday. I plan on doing 1 - 2 hours a day 5-6 days a week. My diet is better, but still not the best, so I'm still working on that.

Awesome!

I am such a major failure when it comes to this vegetable thing. I'm better than I've ever been before, but it still doesn't come close to what my body needs. Last week, I had one salad. The week before, two. One serving of fruit last week, and no other servings of vegetables at all. :-[

But, I am doing a lot better with water. Pretty much taking in 60 oz daily. Slacking on weekends, but still...
