I normally would have never posted in this forum but I was sitting here thinking..
My doctor's nurse called me after my routine and said "your results came back and you are vitamin D deficient. We need to get you started on 50000 ius of Vitamin D for 8 weeks then once daily after we check you again.

In my mind I'm thinking.. WHAT?!! Supplements at 26?

realizing that being young and small doesn't mean you are healthy or the heathiest........smh

I'm 30 and I've been juici taking supplements for 3yrs.  When you're very active physically it helps.

Oh, and I agree: Being young and small doesn't equate to being healthy.

This is very true. I was at breakfast saturday and one of the people said that a young girl, bout 14 or 15, only like 100lbs soaking wet, almost went into a diabetic coma. Her sugar level was up to 900.

Not at all.

Vitamin D deficiency is very dangerous, btw.

I told my husband I have no idea how someone can become vitamin D deficient but I knew it was serious because she called me 3 or 4 times to get me to the pharmacy to get started on the highest dose of vitamin d immediately.  :-(

About a year or so ago, I shared with a few of the sisters here about the time I learned I had a severe vitamin and mineral deficiency. It had a pretty drastic effect on me. It was pretty much a turning point for me in terms of paying more attention to my health and not being deceived by the notion that small = healthy. I was, at that time, probably unhealthier than any obese person I know, including my diabetic SsIL.

I'm sure your doctor told you this, but eat more dairy, take a multivitamin, get more sun (but wear sunblock - because another myth is that Black people don't need sunblock: LIES!!!), and most importantly: get into the habit of reading the labels on everything you eat.

I know five diabetic people and they all weigh less than 160 lbs...

SN: After a trip to the doctor Monday, I found out that I lost a few pounds. Looks like my diet and exercise plan is doing some good after all. ;D

I'm not one for dieting, but I do try to eat healthier these days and stay active. For me, it's not about losing weight, I just want to age as gracefully as I can. I don't want to be barely getting around when I'm 80 (if the Lord spares my life and delays His coming). I want to be able to get around on my own.

Decided to join weigh watchers with some family members.. this ought to be interesting but I'm probably the most competitive so I'll probably get the most out of this..

Speaking of arms and legs...

I really need to get to work on mine. I was trying to scrub my feet the other day (I had walked through some grass, and I use cocoa butter on my feet. Cocoa butter + dirty grass = nasty feet), and I couldn't even reach them. I'm too young to be unable to reach my feet. :D I'm going to start back doing my lunges again (or were they called squats?? Whatever those things are that B3W had me doing, which practically paralyzed me the first week!).

And maybe I can talk myself into resuming my push-ups and lifting weights. I'm not a body fanatic, but I do want to keep toned arms and legs at all times. I've given up on my stomach. :(

I took a detour from my MMA workout to work on strength, but now I'm back on the MMA workout and it's kicking my butt.

Remember people:  Fitness is 90% diet and 10% excercise!  Eating crap and working out is a sure way to NOT get results.

I'm DETERMINED to get back on my workout grind. I wasn't doing much, but I want to get back to the little I was doing. I need to tone my arms and legs. Any suggestions?

I also need a flatter tummy, but I'm not even gonna front. I think I'm just resigned to wearing loose-fitting blouses. :-\ I hate crunches, and that seems to be the only way to tighten the abs. :(
