This

Come on guys!  You just need some motivation.

For those of you trying to lose/gain weight, try setting weekly goals (+/- 2 lbs).  Then place it on your refrigerator so it's always in front of you.

You can also get a picture of somebody who has a great physique and use that as a goal.

I've been hitting it pretty hard lately.  My diet is on point and I'm making it to the gym 3-4 times per week.   8)

Ok, that's it.

Starting tonight, I'm going to resume doing lunges and push ups. This weekend, I'll go and get some more dumbbells since I have no idea where my 8lb bells are.

I still don't know what to do about my flabby stomach, but maybe somebody will tell me something... (not crunches, though).

I have a co-worker that does stairs every day (P2 to 22st floor - that's 24 flights of stairs). I might meet her at like the 10th floor. LOL.

My focus is still my arms, legs, and stomach. What should I be doing?

What is your diet like?

What is your diet like?

Diet? What's that? LOL.

Well, I don't cook anymore (but that will change in a few months). I eat as follows:

Weekdays:
Breakfast - either Toaster Strudels with coffee, or coffee alone. (Today, just coffee).
Lunch - a frozen Marie Callender's meal (those joints are delicious!)
Dinner - McDonalds, pizza (delivery or DiGiornos), philly cheesesteak and fries, or baked fish

Weekends:
Brunch - pancakes and bacon at IHOP
Dinner - usually a full meal at a restaurant and/or fast food

Now as far as weight is concerned, I'm mostly okay with my weight. I freaked out a few weeks ago when I gained nearly 20 lbs seemingly for no reason. But I figured out where it came from, and slowed down on the Swedish fish. ;D I have noticed, however, that my metabolism is slowing down, so I'm a bit concerned that when I start eating healthy (3 meals a day, etc), I will probably start to gain weight again. I don't mind gaining a few lbs, but anything more than 20 will concern me.

My main goal is just to tone my arms, legs and stomach - not really weight gain/loss.

Oh, and I do walk 5-6 times a week. About one mile, sometimes more.
When you're in love you don't want to fall asleep bc reality is finally better than your dreams.

I think I've spotted the culprits.  I'd be hard-pressed to find someone who is getting good results when they're eating McDonalds, pizza, or a cheesesteak for dinner every night.

I think if you change that to grilled/baked chicken or a lean steak with some brown rice or veggies you'll get good results.  I bought a George Foreman grill a while ago and that thing is in constant use!   :D

My daily plan:

6:30am
Bowl of GoLean cereal with Almond Milk
(Or egg whites w/wheat toast)

10am
Handful of almonds
(Or protien shake)

12:30pm
Salad or Subway sandwich (today it was Subway)

4:00pm
Meal Replacement shake
(or protien shake or almonds)

5:30pm
GYM

8:00pm
Grilled Chicken (or lean steak) with salad (or mixed veggies)

For toning I'd recommend a yoga class.  They have them at the gym I attend and the class is right next to the weight room.  When they walk by you can see that most of them are very toned.

OR

You can get some excercise DVDs.  My mom swears by the Cathe Friedrich workout videos.

Like this guy for example:

I don't know if I'll quite get there, but at least I have a goal!

This weekend, I'm rejoining Weight Watchers, and I've hired Jillian Michaels as my trainer.

My best friend Angelise and my other friend Danielle who's already lost 50 lbs, are going to be my main support system, since I've always tried to do this by myself and haven't shared my struggle with those closest to me.  I had a good heart to heart with Angie last week, and it's funny how you think you're alone but it's actually just that you never asked for help or told anyone what you needed.

In case you haven't notice, my main strategy is to ignore this thread if I'm failing in my endeavors, and only to come here when I've made some effort to address my failures... #thatswhoiamacceptit  LOL!

Aw thanks, RJ.  That blessed me.  And um... regarding the pic... WOW.  I'll admit I ignored it the first time, but got stuck staring at him the second time I came to this thread, lol.  Great. God. from. Zion.

Anyway, (after about my third scroll up), I'm gonna sit down with Angie this weekend and lay out my plan.  I'll update you guys after that.

I second what RJ said. When you're struggling is when you should be pulling up the thread for encouragement and motivation. For 19 pages, that's what we've all done: encourage and motivate each other through the ups and the downs.

My personal tip: if you struggle and fall off the wagon, get up, forgive yourself, and start again tomorrow. (I tell my sister to get up, walk for an hour, forgive yourself and start again tomorrow). :)

And if that "falling off the wagon" happens to be eating something horrible for you, get back on the wagon IMMEDIATELY!

I used to really sabotage myself.  If I ate something bad for breakfast or lunch I'd think "Oh well, I already ruined today" and proceed to eat every fattening, high-calorie food in sight.   :D

If you have one bad food choice and correct it from the next meal you should be alright as long as you've been on the ball for the past week or so.

But if you use one day to pig out on cookies, cake, pizza, burgers, and tons of soda, you've pretty much undone all the hard work you did in the past week!

Aw thanks, RJ.  That blessed me.  And um... regarding the pic... WOW.  I'll admit I ignored it the first time, but got stuck staring at him the second time I came to this thread, lol.  Great. God. from. Zion.

Thanks y'all.  This particular struggle seems to magnify my absolute worst character flaws.   But I think every round goes a little higher in that I learn something more about myself.

Looks like your flesh is already winning.   :D :D :D
Indeed.  LOL!  Next page, please... STAT!

How is everybody doing?  Eating right?  Working out?

I'm doing fine man. Just had to add another notch to my belt, a lower notch. And I'm loving the small changes that I see on my body. I'm encouraged to keep it going!! :D

SN: I really need better eating habits tho. I just can't give up my fried chicken. WON'T DO IT!!! However, I'm really getting the hang of portion control and not over-eating just because food is left on the plate.

I still don't know what to do about my flabby stomach, but maybe somebody will tell me something... (not crunches, though).

I believe sit-ups and crunches are the main ab exercises. I found a few magazines with some different crunch positions instead of the normal ones that are really helping me. Things like knee-ins, standing side bends, inclined crunches, etc. I love the standing side bends for the "love handles".

The key to good ab workouts is lots of intense repitition. Instead of speeding through a sit-up or crunch, pause for a few seconds, then return to starting position. Hope that helps!

If I could leave the sugar alone...I'd be good. My love for sweets is horrible. HORRIBLE! But I want this so bad that I will try my hardest limit my sweets intake. Maybe once a week or every other week.

Try making yourself "pay" for it. That's what I had to do with bread. Figure out what it will take to burn the sweets off, and each time you just gotta have it, make yourself work it off to pay for it.

I'll try that. I also may try to eat a piece of fruit instead.

Btw, I don't eat chicken, RJ.

Tonight, I decided to make a 20 min meal, which is about what it takes me to go out of my way to McDonalds anyway. I'm having:

Baked whiting (77 calories)
Beef Rice-a-Roni (310 calories)
Glory greens :D (35 calories)
The best bread ever known to mankind (280 calories for 2 rolls)

Total meal: 702 calories, but if I didn't hog out on bread it could be under 500. :)
