I just have to say that I LOVE my dad! He is such a great encourager and one of the best motivational speakers that I have ever known. My accountability partners are my whole fam. Everyone is involved (mom, dad (that joka is BUFF), bruh, sis, me, niece, nephew). That's what helps me and helps the whole fam with our diet and exercise.

My dad has been me and my mom's personal trainer for a lil min. We meet up at the gym (s/o to Anytime Fitness lol) everyday, except Thursday and Sunday.  I love hearing, "Good job!" "There ya go" That dude is awesome...  :)

:D

Seriously though, that's awesome. It's a blessing to have someone physically there to push you and encourage you.

I repeat, eat more.    :D

Brit, If you CONSISTENTLY eat 2500-3000 cals per day with exercise (exercise so some of those extra cals go to lean body mass and not straight to your tummy!) you should grow.

If you don't after 2 weeks add 500 cals.  You'll eventually find a calorie range where you're growing.

I doubt you'll reach 5,000 cals per day and still not gain weight.  I HIGHLY doubt that.

Yeah, clearly you haven't been in this situation before. LOL.

It's just nearly impossible to get someone who has had poor eating habits for xx years to begin taking in 2000 calories a day. That doesn't even FEEL good on the body (well, I've never taken in 2000 on a regular basis, but I do remember when I increased my caloric intake to about 1500 and it was rough on my body, even eating "good" foods).

I guess my point is that it's important, as you said, to set realistic goals. To go from averaging approximately 1 meal a day to eating 2000 calories a day is just not realistic (without the help of a medication or bun in the oven... lol). Coincidentally, that's what helped me gain when I finally did. I gained 40+ lbs by taking a prescription medication that is jokingly referred to as "legal marijuana" (and no, there's no marijuana in it). One of the side effects is that you will get the serious munchies and crave carbs.
When you're in love you don't want to fall asleep bc reality is finally better than your dreams.

Yeah, because I recently had an experience before. I had already eaten, then my mom asked me if I wanted a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. So I said yeah.

Mann I SMASHED that sandwich.

Shortly after, I threw it all up.

So, often times when I try to eat more than I can handle, it makes me sick.

May I just interject that Tip's dad is FINE?  I was on FB like, who is this?  Is this her brother?  When I saw it was her dad, I was like WOW.  LOL!  Sorry Tip, I know that's your daddy, but I just had to make that known.

No, I have never been in that situation.  I didn't even consider that it would be difficult physically to consume that many calories.

Mainly because I could consume 4000 calories without blinking.   :D

WOW! Congrats, T-Block! 2 pants sizes? That's pretty epic!

Have you had any #fail days? If so, can you share what happened and how you got back on track?

I have had some fail days. When it happens, I would first forgive myself and remember that it's gonna take time til this lifestyle change is apart of me. Next, I just work out a little harder the next workout and get back on track.

Also, there was that vacation me and my sis took where I didn't work out for bout a week. It was so hard to start back, but I did and next time I'm gonna take your suggestion Rue Rue and find a way to workout during the vacation.

My main diet guidelines I gave myself are: nothing but fruit and water after 6, limited fried food intake, fast-food limited to once a week, and don't pig out on deserts (especially donuts, which I loooovvvee).

As for exercise: stretching, 15 minutes of cardio to warm up (walking/jogging with weights), push-ups & abs, weight training (focus on different parts of the body on different days), then finish with 10 minutes of walking to cool down. I try to do this at least 3 days a week, sometimes more.

I'm gonna stick with this for about 6 months and see what happens. I'm seeing some good results so far. My biggest goal is to just be healthy.

October 1... new month, new quater, not waiting for a new year.  My goals are simple.  Exercise will consist of running at least every other day, and hitting the Insanity program 100%.  Diet will be focused on consistency... I know HOW to eat right, but I'm TERRIBLE when it comes to eating on a regular schedule, especially making myself eat breakfast.  That changes, with easy breakfast options on deck, and a week of prepared lunches done on Saturday so I have no excuse not to eat at proper times.

The hardest part in all of thise is being consistent with my crazy work schedule.  Pray with me that I stick with this.

I have lost 10 pounds over the last month or so.  I can't say that I'm doing perfectly, diet-wise.  But, I have improved greatly.  The key for me is that my job requires me to do a lot of walking (up to 5 miles some days).  The down side is that I spend a lot of time in the field, so I often eat fast food.  I'm getting better at bringing snacks to prevent that.

LL, congrats on your 10!! That's awesome! When you're doing fast food, try to eat the healthier stuff and only allow yourself the "junk" stuff once in a while. And Subway, even though its not as healthy as many think, is probably the best ff option. Congrats again!

@Bassthumpa, I'm so excited for you!!! Thanks for pointing out that today is Oct 1st. New month, new quarter, LAST quarter, in fact. I'm starting TODAY! ;D

I decided to start from the beginning with my running, and my body showed me that it was a wise decision.

http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml

The C25K program is great for those that aren't in running shape and looking to get there.  Week one, Day 1, done this morning. Chased that with a protein shake, apple juice, and oatmeal.  A bit more exercise walking and playing with Evan at the park.  Gonna have a salad, and perhaps some hamburger helper since the kid loves it and it's quick and easy, and I'm in a time crunch since we have an out of town fellowship service this evening.

I'll start Insanity tomorrow between services.  I may modify things, since C25K is a 3 day/week program and Insanity is daily. Depending on how things go, I may extend the Insanity program to break on days when I'm running.  We'll see.

If you wanna see how I'm doing daily, check out my Livestrong profile: http://www.livestrong.com/thedailyplate/diary/who/bassthumpa/

Thanks!  I'm cutting out fast food alltogether.  I neither need nor want it.  It was just convenient.  I can't stand Subway, so that will never be an option.  LOL!

I still want to incorporate other exercise, though.
