~THIS THREAD IS FOR TRACKING PROGRESS, NOTING SLIP-UPS, ENCOURAGEMENT, AND ADVICE~

As many of you know, I recently linked up with an "accountability partner" of sorts, and this week, we begin our TOTAL HEALTH lifestyle.  It started out with us just developing plans to achieve weight and fitness goals, but after further conversations, we idenitified some other areas that we're going to address as well. We're writing our plans (though both of us have slacked a little on that, but we're gonna get it done THIS WEEK, right partner?  ;)) and we're going to exchange them to help each other stick to it.

Anyone who would like to join in is welcome to identify an area you want to work on, and join the "club" to converse with us about it, brag about your accomplishments (however small you think they might be), or confess your slip-ups (LOL!) so we can encourage you to get back up and start again! A just man falleth seven times... LOL  It doesn't matter what goal you want to set. Maybe you just want to start drinking more water (**looks at B3W**) or maybe you want to try to be nicer to people, or start reading your Bible daily or open up a savings account. It can be a big goal (like losing 50 lbs) or a small goal (like balancing your checkbook on a regular basis).  Whatever YOUR goal is, is fine with us! We want to help you get there, and I think if we all work together and look out for each other, we can get some thangs done.  :D :D

Here are three general areas we identified to work at achieving TOTAL health, with a couple of examples/ideas.

TOTAL SPIRITUAL HEALTH (maybe you want to read your Bible more, pray more, change your language/conversations, better attitude, fast more...)

TOTAL PHYSICAL HEALTH (you might want to start exercising, or drinking water (**looks at B3W**), or eating more veggies)

TOTAL FINANCIAL HEALTH (pay off a bill, clean up your credit, open up a savings account, paying tithes, filing past-due taxes)

Those are just some examples...

And you can be as discreet or as transparent as you want. If you want to join in, but don't want to say what you're working on, that's fine too. We just want to keep each other encouraged and motivated!!  :)

Best wishes to all on the journey to a better YOU!

i know its been a few years but is it too late to join?

@PHB, definitely not too late to join. What are your goals?

@SJ, how about those workout video games like on Wii or the dance games? I've never seen them so I don't know if that's feasible but I've heard a lot about them. Good way to burn calories.

Or how about a treadmill or elliptical? Or just walking every evening or morning or during lunch? I know you have knee (or was it ankle?) problems, so if none of that will do, maybe the dr can make other suggestions. Bottom line, you HAVE to burn more than you consume. Somehow. :-\

I'm shopping for a used elliptical now. I'm determined to be in decent shape and stay active as I age.
When you're in love you don't want to fall asleep bc reality is finally better than your dreams.

The issue with any exercise device is noise as I live in an apartment.  I feel badly for the downstairs neighbors when Seraya decides she thinks she can run. :-\ :D

I'm with you T-Block. Other than a cup of coffee every morning, all I drink is water. And my post history will show that I HATE water. Lol. It has grown on me though. Still don't love it but I love giving my body what it wants.

Going to the gym is the easy part, eating right is the hard part. :(

As for water, it consists of about half of what I drink. I still cant give up soda and tea. I used to have to drink coffee for energy before my workout, but now I have enough energy without it.

I went 4 years without a soda. Went to a cookout, had a NuGrape and got all off track. I'm still mad at myself!!

Luckily for me I LOVE water. However, this first Sunday my mom made her famous sweet tea, and it was PAINFUL not getting a glass or 4. And I hate giving up my Hawaiian Punch and lemonade, but I'ma stick wit it.

I've never understood how someone can hate water.

Me neither. That's like hating oxygen, I think.

Water has no taste. My mom says that even as a baby, she had to put maple syrup or honey in my water to get me to drink it.

Also, bear in mind that I don't drink a lot anyway. I don't drink with/after each meal, and I rarely, if ever, get thirsty. Before becoming health conscious, on average, I would drink one cup of coffee a day, and I may drink about 8 oz of sweet tea, or maybe nothing else after that morning coffee.

So it's not just the fact that I don't like water, it's also that I'm forcing myself to drink when I'm not even thirsty.
