I shopped at Whole Foods last week, all fresh produce pretty much. I had sticker shock at the register, lol. But I haven't even used my debit card in three days (until today when I realized I had no protein and bought a couple of Chobani's), which is unusual for me, because I packed all of my food. So yeah, I'm actually saving money. Some of the stuff I bought at Whole Foods I know I can get at Trader Joe's a little cheaper, so I need to strategize a bit more.
I gotta say, I love the upscale shopping experience. Whole Foods and the higher end grocery stores like Raley's are just a much better experience than like Wal-Mart and WinCo. But you pay for it, lol.
The other thing I don't like, is buying all this fresh stuff means I gotta go back to the store more often. I hate the store, so I'm not really feeling that, but like I said, the experience overall is better.
I meant to respond to that stuff in bold.
I need to strategize too, because I'm not trying to be physically healthy and financially sick.

Seriously though, I want TOTAL health...
I, too, LOVVVE the upscale shopping experience. Such a huge difference, and it just feels good to know that you're putting good food in your body and not a bunch of stuff you can't even identify, spell or pronounce - or stuff that you don't even know is in there. LOL
Two things I'm not liking about buying fresh stuff: (a) it's very likely to go bad in my house - and I hate waste. I'm just very finicky and I have to have a taste for stuff. I won't just eat it because it's there. I have to want it. (b) what you said. LOL. I hate not being able to stockpile stuff in cans, jars and freezer bags.
