I've just completed my first 6am workout.  I didn't think I'd like this as much as I do. :)

Played my 1st game of basketball, in a long time, yesterday.  I walked on the court looking for the most unathletic person to guard, lol.  I thought I found him, but I was so wrong...this dude had me chasing him all over the court.  Needless to say, when I go back next week...I know who I won't be guarding.

Well, this thread has kinda taken a turn toward physical health, but you may remember that in our humble beginnings (lol) we were all about TOTAL health, which included spiritual, financial, and physical. I wanted to share a lil story on the financial piece.

Last Friday, my boss came over and told me "this is purely FYI, but [President of the Board] will be making an announcement on Monday about some organizational changes. I don't have any details, but I just wanted to keep you in the loop."

Of course, I couldn't help but to wonder. My company is known for doing massive RIFs, and making really random decisions. They will get rid of an entire department to save money, and then hire 3 executives that cost the same as the 30 ppl they just RIFd. Although my department can't be eliminated, I did expect that whatever change they were going to make would affect my job. I monitored my boss's email and got a few tidbits here and there. Discovered that they were bringing in 3 new CEOs to head up 3 of our companies. One of them would be my boss's new boss, which created a new layer because she was the head of our company.  New CEOs always come with their own Administration teams, so you can see the problem there.  I spent the whole weekend not-worrying about it :D. But I did sit down and figure out a financial plan.

To make a long story short, I wrote out a new budget and discovered that I actually CAN live on unemployment. It wouldn't kill me. It would be tight, and I would have to cancel a few trips I have planned, and probably no more shopping... lol. But I could do it.

So I decided to do it. :)

For the next year, I will endeavor to live off of an unemployment salary and save and invest the rest. Pray fuh me.

Love it Layla!

For me this is day 14 of nothing but water. Loving it! I think I'll go to day 30 or 31 and then have a healthy balance of water and any other drink (except soda) I desire.

thanks guys.

Oh and I forgot to mention that all the "not-worrying" was for naught. The organizational changes will not affect my role with the company. :)

I'm truly grateful. I don't love my job. Not at all. But I do appreciate getting a paycheck, and I do appreciate being able to do the things I enjoy doing. Losing my job would've messed up my 12 month plan, which was to save so I can quit work next year to go to school full time. That was just a reminder-jolt to stop shopping and prepare for school.

I think it's safe for me to report a net loss of 5 lbs. I lost a few from fasting and being sick, but then I gained back a couple as expected. It's been a couple of weeks, and I'm pretty steady now, so I can confidently say, I've reached my goal. :) I'm right where I want to be, and I'm confident that I can stay here. I continue to walk every day. My eating habits could always be better, but it's nowhere near as bad as it used to be. It's now a "norm" for me to buy fruit and nuts for snacks instead of (or in addition to?) junk. It's definitely a norm for me to drink water when I'm thirsty.

A couple of things:

1) Today is day 18 of my "only water" plan. Trying to make it to July 14 but I feel like breaking the street sometime this week.

2) Wow! We're halfway done with the year already! This week (since I'm off work) I'm going to be doing some evaluation of this year so far in comparison with the goals I made earlier in the year.

Last Nerve Update - It's better! Praise God!

Well, it has been a couple of months since I cut my simvastatin dose down to 1/2 40mg pill, and started taking 2 St. John's Wort capsules a day. Also got a bottle of CoQ10 - 100 mg capsules at a good price at Costco, and have been taking one daily; supposed to be good for the brain and serotonin levels.

My blood work came back from the Health Fair I went to in June, and my cholesterol levels are only a little bit up (133 total, from 115 in Apr.). I am feeling more sociable, much less irritable, people's actions and remarks don't get to me as much, and only have had briefly passing thoughts of suicide. Also, my fasting blood sugar is down 10 points, so I went down from 4 - 500mg Metformin to 3. Haven't lost weight this month, but my mood has improved.

I am very tempted to stop the statin entirely...
