IRT the 1st Health Fact:  Soooo, your saying, in essence, 'twould  bke more beneficial to just drink a big glass of yon boiled veggie water?

That's essentially what the world renowned Dr. Colbert is insinuating if one should overcook their vegetables in such a way.

*slow head nod*

That's colloquially called "pot liquor", isn't it? Sometimes I use that stuff in my ramen noodles in place of just plain water. It works. Soak it into my cornbread, let it soak back into the veggies... lot's of stuff you can do besides just drinking it.

JUST drinking the pot-liquor and not eating the veggies would cause you to miss out on all the fiber, which is pretty bad if you eat meat.

THAT'S what it's called!  Pardon my cerebral flatulence.  :D :D

~ Day 22 ~
Exercise
The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.
- Proverbs 21:5

Health Fact Studies show that approximately one-third of cancer deaths can be linked to diet and sedentary lifestyles. (Don Colbert, MD, The Seven Pillars of Health)

Next Step If there is an option and you are physically able, take the stairs instead of using the elevator.

I was suppose to give you all regular updates and grades but....just didn't happen.

For the last 3 years I've been trying to take more control of my health, particularly my physical health. Been off sodas for 3.4 years. Today is Day 24 without sweet tea. I've also taken the initiative of adding more fruits, vegetable and organic food into my diet. Ever since my mom's death I haven't been as focused on my physical health as I should (which is actual something that happens very often when people lose a loved one). But in thinking about my mom I also feel empowered to take better care of this temple because it is the only body I'll ever have. As a result also, I've lowered my intake of fast food. I'm spending more money at the grocery store than fast food/eating out.

Keep me in prayer you guys!

So I used to give myself grades on my physical, financial and spiritual health. So here are my grades as I get into last quarter of 2012.

Physical: With everything that has taken place I have not been as good on my physical health as I know I need to be. In light of still grieving my mom's passing, my mindset the last week or so has changed. Honestly, a few weeks after my mom died my mindset was basically "YOLO" (which is actually a terrible movement). Therefore I ate whatever I wanted. But I also realize that if I want to live as long as the Lord allows I must take care of my health. Therefore starting a few weeks ago I decided to stop drinking sweet tea. I've lowered my consumption of fast food and I've been shopping at an organic food place. I still need to add exercise in. So right now I'd give myself a C- and that's mainly because I haven't added exercise in.

Financial: Overall God has been good to me financially. For the most part I'm sticking strictly with my budget. I do think I've overspent in areas of entertainment (books, CDs, music, etc) but overall I'm doing pretty good. In light of some big decisions I need to make I will need to continue to make some financial adjustments but overall I give myself a B+.

Spiritual: My passion for God is crazy and even in loss I still trust in the sovereign God. To be honest, I haven't been as consistent in bible study and prayer like I should, particularly in the morning, but God is still my biggest passion right now. Overall I'd give myself a B- but my passion for God is not dying. I love God like crazy!

2 other random announcements:
-Today is Day 26 without sweet tea.
-Today is Day 841 without soda (June 21, 2010 as start date).

Thank you Jesus!

Been eating what I've want since being married and have lost over 8lbs. Having been exercising. I thought I was supposed to be gaining weight.  ;D I pretty much eat at home now. I also dilute my drinks sometimes with water.
Vision without action is just day dreaming. I miss practicing.

30 pounds down. I'm about to step it up and be in the gym 5 or 6 days a week. I remember RJ posting about how he goes to the gym even when he does not feel like it. That really motivated me this weekend. Hopefully this discipline will help in other areas of my life.

Really?  He looks a little pissed in the first pic and slightly more pissed in the second one.   :D :D :D

I can't talk.  I NEVER smile in my pics.  When I do I always look like some psycho clown.  Arkham's finest in truth.

Thanks yall.

I too almost never smile in pics, I don't like the way it makes me look.

I'm still shocked at how bad I looked in the first pic. :-\ I never want to get that way again.

Nutritional Supplements

And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.
- Ezekiel 47:12

One of my favorite combinations, chocolate+milk, has been found to be bad for the stomach, and is linked to ulcers. =(

Could try making it w/soy or almond milk (not the same taste, though IMO)...
