Have you ever been on the phone with Verizon and then the phone disconnects and instead of them calling you back like they said they would then send you an email saying, "Thank you for contacting FiOS Support"? 
No, but when I called Verizon for help when I couldn't get my VZ Access Manager (wireless air card) working properly, the tech walked me through all these fifty-leven steps, and then started installing something. He told me it would take 20 minutes, so instead of holding me, he'd let me hang up and would call me back in about 20 minutes. As soon as he hung up, the installation finished, and after waiting about 45 minutes, I realized he wasn't going to call back.
The next time I called, the guy told me the same thing. I recounted my story from a few nights earlier, and he swore that wouldn't happen. Even gave me his ID number and name and all that... never heard from him again, either.
