:)

I don't blame you at all. I should have clarified something earlier; the songs USE simple progressions, but the rhythm is not necessarily simple. My church's former bassist always stepped down when it came time to play Nigerian praise songs (for baby dedications and such). THe guy just could not get the timing. I was always amused by that cuz i could hear it very plainly.

B3 did very well considering.

You should've seen me at first! I used to get kicked off by this one dude that we call Deacon 1-4-5, because that's all he played, even if the song has other progressions! Plus, he was never in key, and was very proud of himself! Dude wasn't humble at all. He'd get so angry sometimes that his eyes would turn red. You can see him step in and out of the video on the left side. He's wearing a black suit. I think he was happy that I left, so he could get back on the keyboard.

And speaking of singers: we had this one dude that we called "Ohhhhh", because he'd sing hymns really high (around C6) and then insert "Ohhhh" sometimes. He just knew he could sing.

And on baby dedications: the church would almost be empty if there was a baby dedication or wedding somewhere else. Our pastor started this church back in 1996, and he says he still can't understand it. They'll leave and won't say anything, then come back like what? They'll say, "Pastor! Sorry o! There was a baby dedication."

So B3, why was the whole keyboard shaking and bouncing when u was playing higher on the keys? LOL, just messing wit u. Great job!! :D

;D The keyboard was on an X stand. Those things aren't stable at all.

Ugh! I hate those X-brace stands. They are simply horrible.

IRT to "1-4-5" dude, LOL!!! I knew one dude who was like that. He managed to get through "Friend of God" by Israel on JUST the 1-4-5.  :D But seriously, he sucked.

BTW how come in some threads your profile pic is your face, and in others it is your daughter's? I was always curios about that. Is there still some higher form of LGM membership i am unaware of that gives you this power?  :)

Indeed. Jedi powers. How about the picture can even be different between different posts of a thread. I need to add more pictures to it though, so it'll be more random.

Nice job man. This is the same progression i started out on.We have dozens of songs in 1-4-5-1 but the bass players (and guitar players) extend the range by doing some amazing stuff. The cool thing is,most of these guys dont know theory and those who know dont make use of it when playing the 1-4-5-1.They just play from the heart (or is it the head?) and come up with song really great lines.

"Pastor! Sorry o! There was a baby dedication."

 :D :D :D

I literally head the accent in the 'sorry o!'  Man,you have no idea how seriously we take baby dedications. The pastor should have known that.
And btw, i noticed the shaking keyboard too.You must have strong hands  ;D

I pay really close attention to that as a musician. I'm of the opinion most times people play unnecessarily hard and blame it on being in the moment. Even if it is a bad stand, it don't have to shake as bad as I see from some musicians. Pressing harder does little to nothing for the volume on a keyboard. Just turn it up.

The keyboard used to kill my hands at first! I used to play unweighted or semi-weighted keys before that. Now, I only like weighted keys. If I get on a keyboard without weighted keys (or a sustain pedal), I lose all my focus.

I liked the baby dedications and weddings, and how they'd come and throw money on the celebrators at the end, then they'd collect an offering and give it to the church.

I really do like the freedom of the services. I think we lost some of that here.

That's Meks playing the bass. The guy I introduced you to in Korea. He taught me some of the patterns on bass, but my fingers aren't nearly as fast as his.

Yea. I really don't play that hard. That stand really wasn't stable, and then the rhythm I was playing with my left and right hand naturally rocked the board, because they weren't playing together.

I'm I the only one who can't get used to weighted keys? My two brothers laugh when I tell them I prefer Yamaha PSR series over the Motif, not for the sound but for the ease of playing.Funny things is that I can play almost any bass guitar no matter how high the action is but weighted keys often stress my fingers.

I played this dude's bass two weeks ago! His action must've been about 1/2" (1.2 centimeters) high! I had a hard time. I didn't take my bass, because I left home late that morning.

It takes a while to get used to. You have to consistently play on weighted keys though. Whatever kind of keyboard u normally play on, ur gonna get used to that feel unless u change.

I prefer weighted keys only because the sound quality is better than on non-weighted keys. It just feels much more professional and musical IMO.
