Suit Colors.
« on: November 04, 2009, 02:47:49 PM »
HONESTLY, should certain suit designs and colors (for men) be outlawed in the church?  Also, I'm not against men wearing hats to church but when its bigger than a woman's hat, you may want to think twice.

Where did 'church folk' get the ideas that they "elaborate" colors were cool?

Tradition-the practice of doing things ritualistically without regard to questioning, assessing and evaluating.

From Bishop Don Juan?  IDK.  I loathe "Church Suits."

Flamboyancy seems to be more common in our race as a whole.  So, it's only natural that it would trickle down to the church.  But, to answer your question, I have no idea.

I think the love of color was just passed down through our ancestry. Look at all the gorgeous colors of african attire. Not to say it's a good thing to be bringing it all up in church, lol.

I honestly cannot stand 3-quarter length suits.  If I hurt your feelings behind that.......

Brutha, I've been saying that for YEARS!

I can't wear a $99 suit.  I'm sorry, I just can't do it.

Fellas: If you have any suits from Stacy Adams, please discard.

My first suit out of college was a "gray" business suit (which was cheap, I must admit). But it wasn't one of these clown suits. :)

But I always find it funny that people walk around in these $99 suits thinking that they are all that.

I bet you would if it was a Hart Schaffner Marx or another such designer that was marked down. Yes, such suits do exist, you have to know where to find them, and NO, such suits are not at a flea market or from some dude off the corner. ;D

Miami Vice started the change, and then John P. Kee brought it to church.
