My new rig..
« on: November 16, 2009, 05:12:08 PM »
I got my Schroeder 1212L cab last week and hooked it up to my SWR WP 400 when I got home yesterday from visiting my folks in Pa.. It was the first time I got to run the 400 as well because I didn't have a cab to run it through..

Anyway.. so far.. I like it.. the head is pretty nice.. I like the 1212L config but I am still considering adding either a 15 cab or a 210 cab to it.. Leaning more to the 15.. but the 1212 seems to handle that low B very well.. so it isnt a hot priority.. I really wont know for sure about the other cab until I do a gig with it.. and so far we have a small church and a prison lined up.. so the 1212 should do me fine for now.

The head has a feature called the Bass Intensifier circuit which boosts the lower freqs.. It also has a nice midrange EQ that lest you fine tune the mids.. overall I like the setup.. The amp is kinda heavy though.. 25lbs. I have it in a Gator case.. I originally wasn't going to get that particular head.. but I had a major DA moment and wound up getting some money tied up in a local music store so I had to go with what they could get. One thing that I don't like about the head is that it is noisy.. but it does sound good and I am amazed at how different I sound through better gear. I can hear myself much better warts and all, but that is a good thing and helps me to work on my technique even more because I can hear myself so much better.. The amp itself is not very noisy at all.. it is just the fan noise that is kind of annoying to me.. but I imagine I wouldn't hear that too much out on an actual gig.. I was thinking of trying soundproof the case somewhat but of course I would have to be careful to keep it well vented. Another thing that kind of annoys me is that I have the cab on it's side.. and the head is actually wider than width of the cab.. so it doesn't have that symetry that I like.. When/if I get another cab I can lay this thing back on it's bottom.

Well after using this thing at a rehearsal tonight.. I have to say I am liking it even more..  ;D I am so looking forward to actually using it out in a bigger room.. I am still considering a single 15 down the line to balance out the lows.. When I turn the cab on it's side with the front speaker on the bottom.. the 2nd 12 which is angled @ 45 degrees towards the rear faces up towards me.. sort of like a monitor, which is good.. I am also discovering more about this amp as well.. with the right settings I can keep this thing around 3 and have more than enough umph with my bass V set a tad less than half way.. The 15 cab I am thinking of getting is also a Schroeder.. the 15L.. and this will probably be the last rig I get for a long time.. I was concerned that I might not have enough headroom.. but I dont think that will be a problem.

cool i have been gas-ing for a shcroeder. I figure if I spend money for 2 nice cabs. I could have bought 1 shcroeder that could do the almost the same thing.

There are some really good posts over @ TB..  Just do a search for Schroeder... They have a new one out too that's supposed to be pretty nice.. a 1212BMF I think it was.. I like my amp.. but I wish I had gotten something smaller..

I know what you mean. I put a rack other. I like the power and tone but a bit sick of the weight.
