Audacity

One of my church members, who also plays the guitar, wanted to record a song on audacity. I know how to use but the problem is how to connect my guitar to the computer to get a good sound. I connected my guitar via amp to the computer. When I heard what I played it sound very distorted and I couldn't pick out the chords I played. I looked around on google but does anyone have a direct answer.

a decent mic, some sort of interface (mic pre, mixer, etc.) and just mic your cabinet.

If you were using your preamp out on your amp, that should have worked as well, just make sure you have your input volumes adjusted accordingly. You may need to adjust them in the soundcard's mixer as well.

It's better to use the line in than the mic in. If you have to use the muc in. You need to turn off the mic boost in your sound properties.

Enough with the banging on instruments. When are you going to start playing it?
