Fellas,
I finally got the blessing from my wife to purchase a new amp, now I don't have to sneak and buy one. I will start playing at church, the bass player is the MOM, excellent drummer, and keyboard player is great. They do regular praise and worship songs. Donald Lawrence, Kurt Carr, everybody in that genre. I went to the Guitar Center yesterday, my budget is $300 on the low end $500 tops. I really liked the Line 6 IV, the effects were good I would have to play with it some more, a friend of mine has a Carvin Nomad, sounded real good, another buddy has a peavey bandit transtubem, sounded good. I played through a couple of Fenders as well. I have a Mexi Strat with Hot noiseless pickups and a Washburn MG30 that sounds great. I only brought the mexi yesterday to the GC, I had fun. It's just hard for me to decide when making a purchase. Once I get this amp, I will probably stuck with it for a while, so I want to get a good one. Just playing in church, doing fills, a little rhythm and lead here and there, shouting every now and then. I just don't know what to buy, my playing is still progressing, so I know i will play better in 6 months after playing with them. Just need some advice. I see myself playing clean 98% of the time, everyonce in a while a song may call for a bit of distortion, but not that often in the songs he selects. Let me know what you suggest for a good amp for church. Thanks

Carvin vintage 16. I haven't played one, but I just trust it.
Classic 30, egnater rebel 20, I even like the peavey valve king stuff.

Peavey Classic 30, and call it a day.
Loud enough for most gigs, and easily modified for upgrades if needed. But, it sounds great out of the box. I absolutely love mine.

Now if you want to go with a tube amp, this might be a worthy contender....(in fact, I'm in the amp market myself...time to have a discussion with the wife ).

I'm gambling that it's because of the speaker in that cab. On these budget tube amps, the place where they skimp is on the speaker. I wish I had the extra cash to get one, and mod it. I guess I'll just wait until MF blows them out.

i don't think a speaker could save it...but i might be wrong. i'd rather find a used Peavey Classic, Crate Palomino or Vox AC15 for not much more than that cost new.

Save your money and get a Roland jazz amp. They are loud and clear.

Wrong...it's a two trick pony: on and off!
