I was looking in the piano forums to look for a song. I did find the song but I didn't understand it. An example would be:
LH/RH Single Note
Is there a program or someway to make the single notes into chords(just the right hand)
Thanks

One thing that guitarists need to understand is how bass notes affect harmony. Most modern gospel guitarists are in situations where we can get away with not playing a chord in its entirety because we have a bass player and a keyboardist (or two) to do the yeoman's work playing chords. This frees us up to play all sorts ear candy and when we do play chords, it often tends to be root postion. The best approximations to keyboard harmonies we have are slash chords/inversons. In this system, the note following the slash indicates what note is in the bass. So if you see a C/E, for example, you know to play a C maj. triad with an E bass. While you might think a regular C major chord would work, it wont have the same feel and although technically correct, wont sound quite right relative to the song that you are trying to play.

Umm, are you asking for the song to be chorded out for you? I don't understand your question.

I don't understand your question.
Piano has a form of tab similar to but different than guitar tab. For the piano, it's written as a left hand/right hand form using the notes of the keys. The left hand will typically be the bass or root notes and the right hand will be melody and chords, but again they're written out as individual notes, so someone would need to know a little about the note names on the piano (simple) and maybe some chord theory (maybe not to simple) to really know what it is that they're playing. Also, just like guitar tab, it really helps to be familiar with the original song. I don't know of a program that converts one form to another. Anyone else?

OK thanks Dave for clearing that up.
I think he wants to know what the chords are for the song.
I also have this serious beef with people who post chords on this forum. They really, REALLY need to start writing the chord names. It is so annoying to me to see Ab eB/ F A C and not know what chord the poster means. Of course i can figure it out, but it would really help to know the chord name.
I think this is the OP's issue.

Two things: 1. the op didn't mention a song name, so I don't know what song they're wanting chords for. 2. I don't understand your beef. Is it with the piano/keyboard forum and the way they post lh/rh chords? No one here in the guitar forum posts chords in the lh/rh format unless they lifted the chords from a keyboard source.

Yes, yes! I should have clarified that my beef with the way chords are posted is STRICTLY limited to the keyboard/ piano chord posters and that LH/RH system. I don't mind the LH/RH system in and of itself, but i just think that, wherever possible, the chord names should bee posted alongside the fingerings. I don't have any issues with how guitar tabs and such are posted here.

There really isn't a program that I know of that's practical. However, there are lots of programs in which you can play the chord with the root on the bottom and it will tell you the name of the chord.

For me its appropriate to see each note spelled out when I want to learn a particular voicing and its LH/RH position on piano. I prefer chord charts if I want to learn the structure of a song. Tabs for the guitar to me are similar in nature to chords that are spelled out for the piano. Ive seen chord charts that read "G chord" but the voicing was actually x200xx for guitar and B/BDG for piano . C F C This is the Air I Breathe C F C This is the Air I Breathe C G Am G F (Am)G Your holy presence living in me

that should actually be written as a G/B....that chart would have anyone playing the wrong chord there...i mean a G would work, but it doesn't flor from the C to the Am like the G/B does.

I once played a Bm7b5 in place of the G/B and got a few scrunched faces from the choir.

It is very possible, sir. I was playing keys and hit that F by mistake.

just go from that bm7b5 to the e7#5#9 before resolving Am...people would probably shout the place down, lol.
