Now I know that makes some people mad but overall musicians are so prideful full of self and self promotion. I know that isn't true for everybody but for the majority this is true. Musicians tend to think that everything is about them and they are just as important if not more than the pastor. They feel you can't correct them or they will leave the ministry. It's crazy! I am trying to become a musician myself and have played with a few musicians and some of the things I see is just crazy!. It really turns me off. The music ministry is so vital to the service and it's taken so loosely. Everyone wants to play the phat and fullest chords than the next person. Show off how fast they can run and riff up and down the keyboard/organ. What ever happen to playing to the glory of God. I literally see musicians having volume fights. I wish I was the Pastor sometimes. LOL! I am just venting I guess but please everyone pray that we become more like the levites and that everything we do we do it for the glory of God and not of self.

Very true indeed and thats why I said it's not true for everybody but for the majority. I just have such a passion for music and I know how vital it is so I am just a little frustrated thats it.

Yep. Take it upon yourself to not contribute or be caught up in the turmoil & be the best servant you can be  Sites like LGM are there to remind us that we are only servants & are not there to demand attention- in case the ego levels start to kick in. |

I posted a "fustration peice" similar to this in the drum room last week. It is getting real ugly. You just have to stand and be that different kind of musician. If nobody else is going to do it then you just have to do it yourself. That's the approach I've taken with it.

Very true!!! I know that some departments which everyone perceives as most dignified quality of people are actually not so good when you get an "inside view". That is why sometimes I don't blame people who "just want to sit at church" because they can at least enjoy the word & don't feel the stress of all the politics. ps: Hi Fenbox my friend  |

I made my statement about other departments in church because I'm apart of other departments, not just the music and this attitude is very much present in all parts of the ministry.

Lately I've just been getting very discouraged and honestly ready to call it quits. I enjoy playing and was ready to just play at my house by myself. But I know it's ministry and I am not doing it for anyone but God.

i'm not sure about church because I dont belong to a large church but I always found musicians whether inside or outside of church to be real cool people to get along with.......i've met a small % of "weird" ones but.....most musicians seem real cool
