Best way to clean strings
« on: November 18, 2009, 04:09:22 PM »

Greetings LGM Members:
I've used Fast Fret to clean my strings in the past but it seems like it's not the same anymore. It seems to leave a residue. I use a microfiber cloth after playing but wonder how do you keep your strings clean and bright?

Lately, I've been using fast fret.  In the past I've used denatured alcohol to wipe down the strings.

One tried and true method I've used is boiling the strings in a pot of water.  The process removes any residue on the strings, and they sound almost new!! Wink

That's my method of choice.  And yes, it's quite an amazing result.
