quartet guitar!!
« on: July 25, 2009, 06:17:15 PM »
I play for a quartet group and its simple 1,4,5 progressions and i play them in the right key.But when i go to some other programs i hear some guys that are really good play the same songs and it sounds more jazzy and funky.I guess im using the simple chords to play them. They make their chords sound so pretty, and seems like they all over the fret board.i notice some r using the whammy bar and effects....but what i like most r the guys that dont have the effects or the whammy bar and can straight out play and sound jus as good. Can anyone offer some tips on how i can spice up my playing and things i can try.Its like some of these guys dont wanna show or tell u anything like everything is top secret. We play stuff like Canton spirituals,Slim,Keynotes, lee williams, etc.

here is a guy you might wont to check out this is just one video but he has more talking about different topics that can help you out. quartet music has many different styles of music take the time to listen to a song  and see which  style it is and try to use those type of chords to lock in with the song. search for the full sounding chords to make your playing sound pretty as you say.
check ot each video you will find somthing in every video that will make you sound better. listed the muted/chord video first because that what alot of us  use while we play.

stay blessed

This type of quartet playing. Is based around, that one main lick by  fingers 2.Some of Uriah`s double stops. Not that hard, but you got to practice. This is quartet, all the way. This brother is bad.
